Hey everybody,I am a Dutch national just recently moved to Kabul, and I am wondering if any of my fellow-expats have an idea as to how: - Find a couple of good maps on Kabul - Find some good expat friends. (Not the ones that sit in high target bar, and talk about how good the pizaaz were in Milan!) - Places to be and to visit Thank you in advance for your helpful reply. All the best, Azadeh Trackbacks

Disappearing luggage a common problem with Kam Air:On the 25. November I flew from Dubai back to Kabul with Kam Air. During the check-in procedure in Dubai one lady in front of me checked in with more than 80 kg of excess luggage and paid a “fine” for that. After I checked in (I didn’t have any excess luggage) there were a lot of other people waiting in line. On my arrival in Kabul I had to realise that my luggage had only partially arrived. As it was after four o’clock in the afternoon, I could reach no Kam Air representative, neither in Kabul nor in Dubai. One member of Kam Air staff was still present at Kabul Airport but was very unfriendly and right-out dismissed my concerns with phrases like “it will arrive eventually”. I was very disappointed that not a single person could tell me where my luggage was at presently. For this reason, I proceeded to report my luggage as stolen to the Afghan Border Police, who were very helpful. They also informed me that this seems to be a common problem and that luggage disappears / is left behind / goes missing on nearly every Kam Air flight from Dubai to Kabul. The Afghan Border Police officer told me that in some cases, luggage arrives after a few days or weeks, but that sometimes it disappears forever. I am very much under the impression that Kam Air is deliberately doing business with excess luggage at the expense of normal travellers who have paid for their tickets but do not provide Kam Air with “additional income” through excess luggage fees. As we went back to the airport today to enquire after my luggage, once again, Kam Air personnel were far from helpful, seemingly disinterested and completely unmotivated to engage in any search or the like. This was my first and last flight with Kam Air and I strongly advise anyone who is concerned for their luggage that they avoid this airline completely. Christian Diering

Hi All, I'm from New Zealand, and am considering an offer to work for an Afghan telecom in Kabul. Does anyone know of any expats who are looking for a housemate to share a house around Wazir Akbar Khan. I'd prefer a place with security guards. Thanks
