Hello Everyone!

I am currently a senior at Wheaton College in Boston, Massachusetts. I study photography. I am applying for a Fulbright Scholarship to live in Albania for a full year. My grandparents were born in Albania and took a boat over to the United States in the 1930s. In our family our Albanian heritage is something that we are very proud about. I am really excited to go back to my roots and connect with family members that still live in Albania today.

My goal with my scholarship is to photo document the Albanian culture. I want to capture people in their element. Albania and other countries in Eastern Europe are often not talked about. My goal is to bring back to the United States documentation of this amazing culture and spread it around. I really want people to see what it is like to live in the country with the highest muslim population in Europe, a country that came out of communism not too long ago, and a country that is full of incredible history dating way back to the very beginning.

I am asking for your help. I am looking for Albanian artist to act as my host at times to show me the artist culture in Albania. I am also looking to just gain some knowledge as to what to what to expect in the art scene. If anyone has any good recommendations as to who or where I should contact that would be great! Thanks a whole bunch! I can't wait to get out there!!!!!
