Fried Meatballs Fried Meatballs with Rice

Fried Meatballs - (Qofte Te Ferguara)

Ingredients :

1 lb ground lamb, beef or chicken

1 slc stale bread broken up

2 tbl chopped feta cheese

1 x onion finely grated

Salt to taste

Freshly-ground black pepper to taste

Crushed dried mint leaves

1/2 cup flour

1 cup oil

Method :

Combine meat, bread, feta cheese, onion, salt, pepper and mint to taste. Form into 1/2-inch thick patties, cylinders or balls. Roll in flour and fry in oil heated to 350 to 365 degrees.

Serve these hot with French fries or mashed potatoes.

This recipe yields 4 servings.

1/2 Albanian but don't know much about Albanian food since the family lived in Italy many generations. My dad and his mother and sisters spoke both Albanian and Italian. They are all gone now but I did have an Albanian foreign exchange student stay with me a few years ago. I was shocked at the food he told me they ate. I bought an Albanian cookbook Wasn't too impressed. The food seemed kind of bland. Interested in some tried and true Albanian recipes that are really good. Can anyone help me? Kat
