I posted this message the other day and it got taken down. I'm not sure why; no one has contacted me to explain & there is no way to contact the administrators of this site. Like others on these forums, I'm tryng to start a discussion on business methods. If it is ok, I'll post my message again:My good friend, Phillip, has exploded the growth here in Arkansas of a company that has had most of its growth to date on the west coast. We have begun to conduct weekly meetings in Little Rock, which I believe are great for people already in the organization. Even though we will continue to meet with people one-on-one every day of the week to introduce them to this company and help them build their team, I am curious how many people would rather learn about this company at a meeting. Do you think meetings are impersonal and a waste of time & resources? Or, are one-on-ones too time consuming & less productive? Are you a meeting kind of person or a one-on-one kind of person? Maybe it depends on what the business at hand is...? If you like, to help answer that question so you can give a better opinion, you may go to the link for a review of this particular company, socreview.com/peterson, and see this particular business for yourself. But the question applies to any business of this nature. So, the question is: For people who are new to a business like this, which would you say is the better way to show them the system & train management - one-on-one or at a local meeting? Please post your response here. And, if you have more advise for me on this topic you may email me at "peterson@ sendoutcards.com". I am very interested in the different ways Arkansans, like myself, prefer to do business. Chris Trackbacks

Chris, You have a very good question. I like a one-on-one presentation. However, if at a meeting, there could be a block of time set aside for questions/comments by meeting attendees, the "meeting approach" could appeal to me. I DO NOT like to attend a meeting where there is no opportunity to ask questions. It is my belief that if a meeting or group-setting presentation of a product or service does not include the opportunity to ask questions, there MUST be some things that a company doesn't want to reveal. That's an instant "turn-off" for me. To recap, one-on-one always works for me because I know I can ask for information. If a meetiing atmosphere provides for attendees to ask questions and gather more information, this format can work well also.

Why not put the actual link in the boxes for that? Is this some kind of work at home, mlm crap?

Well, Bubba, it could be because I'm a guest poster; who knows. Because, I DID put a link in the box when I filled out the form and it didn't show up. As I said, there is no way to contact the administrators of this site, so I can only do what the form lets me do.And, NO the business I am in is NOT crap. But the purpose of my posting was not to have you question what business I am in, but to get the opinions of Arkansans on the value of group meetings versus one-on-one training when helping a group of people become more valuable to themselves & their company. By the way, I didn't seem to get your opinion on the subject while you were taking the time to read my message and bothering to reply. Are you in Arkansas?

You put a link, ie: http://www.something or just www.something in the box?I looked at the site you listed and it seemed to be some MLM crap. In my mind, if its MLM its crap. I have no doubt some people can make boatloads of money with MLM programs and I also believe that the majority of people will have unrealistic expectations, and shattered dreams from MLM crap. My opinion on 1 on 1 or group meetings was shattered by seeing the promotion for some apparent MLM thing. And the obvious answer is of course BOTH. Some people will walk away from a group meeting ready to go, others need that one on one help.

Ellen, Thank you for your insightful response. One thing I do like about the meetings we have is that we love to get questions and let people feel comfortable "brainstorming" with each other. Also, to anyone who cares, I am not in the business of pushing MLM. I, personally, am in the simple business of showing people a better, cheaper, custom, more convenient way to send cards. I don't tell you that you have to turn around & show it to anyone else; therefore I don't push MLM. Being able to save money & time while doing something better than you can do anywhere else in the world isn't crap. But none of that is the purpose of this posting. Is there anyone in Arkansas that has an opinion on the simple subject of this posting (meetings or 1-on-1's)? The resident Complainer that peruses this site looking for something to gripe about has already spoken. Anyone else out there at all? Chris
