I just talked to my aunt and uncle who stayed in Aruba for a week and couldn't believe how EXPENSIVE it was. Drinks $US 15 to 18 dollars. Never had a dinner for two under $200. Breakfast over $120. They were floored....

I have retired in Aruba since March 2008.One of the reasons I choose Aruba was the relatively low cost of living, at least compared to Europe or the USA. Houses are much more affordable and food is at a reasonable price. Only alcoohol is much more expansive than in Europe, equivalent to Canadian prices. I do not understand where Phil's family was staying to pay such incredible prices... probably in one of the 5 stars hotels. Such information is not relevant for people retiring in Aruba. I could also go and take my breakfast at the Crillon in Paris or Plazza in New York and pay a crazy price, but that's not the subject here. Bon Bini Na Aruba Welcome to Aruba
