IGT's Internet Booking Engine solution framework - "ConneXion" - helps travel services providers enhance their customer reach through an extended distribution system, offer richer customer experience, while leveraging state-of-the-art technologies.
ConneXion offers an architecture and design that is scalable, modular, customizable, with flexibility to integrate third party database, such as private fares, non-GDS vendors, etc. in an user-friendly manner. It is based on a three-tier architecture comprising of presentation, business logic and communication layers to achieve high availability and enhanced booking engine performance.
It also utilizes industry standard application-programming interface(s) to access the global distribution system. It utilizes specialized components operating in MS Windows environment, enabling the travel application on the Internet to be directly compatible with the host mainframes.
Features
Airline schedules: Provides user with the ability to search for the flight timetable and proceed with travel plans.
Airline availability and Reservation: Enables two way flight search- for available flights and fare options.
Flights search: The user selects the available flights and takes a quote for the itinerary.
Fare search: The user can perform fares based search for the best seven itineraries that assure availability of space for the quoted fares.
Such availability requests can be performed with the preferences of operating airlines, departure/ arrival timings and direct flight options.The fares displayed are accompanied with the available fare rules that are received from the host at the time of quote.
Air availability by fare: Offers flight search flow that starts with the selection of all available special fares. The user can select the fares and view the corresponding applicable flights.
Airline seat maps: Offers colorful airline seat maps that extend help to the customers choose their advance seating and a better perception of in-flight services they are going to experience.
Hotel availability & Reservation: Offers Hotel availability at the chosen destination. The user may search for a hotel at a specific location, a hotel with select features, room type, hotel type and the room rates within a specified budget etc. Also, hotel rules and restrictions are displayed with the room rates to keep the customer fully informed.
Car rentals & reservation: Enables users to search for Car rentals at a select destination with or without a flight searched. The preferences may include the car rental, the location, car type and budget etc. The car description is also displayed for keeping the customer informed about what is offered at the destination.
Profiles: Provides the capability to use Customer profiles. This includes the corporate and individual customers. The Engine extends the feature of enabling the Corporate members to add their associate users on the site to share the benefits they may have over the other customers.
Private fares: Can make use of Private Fares stored by the travel agency. The functionality extends to the categorization of the corporate and other customers to have separate fares structure.
External fares: Enables travel agencies to store their negotiated fares in an external Fare database designed by us. Such fares will be displayed in response to a special fare request for the online customers preferred by the Travel agency or otherwise.
Currency converter: The user can convert the amount of fare into a preferred international currency, although the payment will be made in the currency of country of purchase. The Fares and tariffs can be displayed in the preferred currency for the customers.
Shopping cart : Can offer this feature in case the client would like their customers to book air/ hotel and car in a single PNR.
Complete booking with Air, Car & Hotel in a single PNR: The user can book one or more of the travel arrangements at the same time in a single record. The Booking engine is designed to offer complete bookings with or without shopping cart that the client's requirement may be. The complete booking may include flights with one or more hotel segments and one or more car rental segments that are optional.
Payment options: Also offers different payment options as per customer requirements. The intimation is sent via e-mail to the customer.
Flight trackers: As one of its additional features, the Internet Booking Engine can offer flight information on flight routing and timings.
View itinerary: The user can view their itinerary saved at the time of completion of a travel record. Also, past bookings can be viewed.
