Unless you have a skill that is in demand and cannot be filled by a local, you will not get a work permit. You can only get a permit if your employer can show they have advertised the position and nobody local is qualified, they then have to advertise for any objectios to them employing a non national, only then will immigration look at your qualifications to see if you qualify for the job. Sorry!

I'm enthusiastic about moving to Barbados come Sept 2008. I wish to obtain a desirable job suiting my wants and qualifications. Including a BA in Communication and Culture with a minor in Educational studies. I've spent the past two years working as a Family and Youth Counselor. In addition to extensive experience with child care in both home and school settings. Ideally I would prefer to land a job in a similar field. I also have 4years experience as a certified esthetician, and in the serving industry for the duration of my studies of four years. This has gotten a bit lengthy and I apologize, but I wished to add my ambitious desire to gain a job in Barbados. I feel I have positive attributes to offer and having traveled to the Island a couple of times; I've gained a friendly social network, admiration for the people and multiple amenities there, I feel I could fit right in. ;) I'm in the process of researching the actions required for this and hope if anyone has any words of advise or possible useful contacts, to pls notify me. Thank you so much ;)
