Hi Nomad! The area around Veliko Turnovo and Elena is really wonderful, it will recharge your batteries. And you can find smaller or larger rural properties at a reasonable price. You will also not be too far from the coast an can enjoy it (when the tourists are gone). There is some skiing and snowboarding in the area in the winter (not as high as Bansko, of course). When you want a bit of civilization, Veliko Turnovo is actually a really nice town and you will find expats there. Sliven as a town is also very pleasant, but more quiet than Veliko Turnovo. If you want higher randomity, you could knock yourself out in the sunny Beach area or Varna in the summer time. If you need any help, let me know! Warm regards, Margie

Thinking of living permanently in Bulgaria. I would like to live in a reasonably populated place on the coast but i don't want to buy in a new development/complex. Also would like to run some kind of small business like cafe/bistro airport transfer etc. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks.

Just to let any one know who are taking pets over to Bulgaria that at the moment you need an export cerificate for dogs and cats that is until bulgaria goes into the EU then you just need passports. If you are taking Birds ie african grey parrot (which I am) you require a cites certificate It has taken me since April this year to find out the correct forms.Hope this may help

For those in Bulgaria (or wherever) who want to buy UK High Street goods, for themselves or for others, at cost. Leegold Ltd offers individuals overseas a simply way of buying UK High Street and UK website products they want. We buy the items on your Shopping List, deduct the VAT, and sell to you at the price we paid. Our profit comes from a reasonable Procurement Fee, which is agreed in advance. We consolidate orders from different suppliers together, pack, and transport them by air or sea to destination, wherever in the world. Our service lends itself strongly to individuals who can pool a shopping list together from local friends and family, supply the items promptly to them, and make a profit (if they want). Don't forget, please, that local duties and taxes may well apply, but we can include these in our offer to you, if you so request. I hope the above is of interest, and ask anyone to call me (Graham Collier) on 44 (0)1932 570670 or email graham@leegold.co.uk to discuss further. Leegold have 5 staff, have been in operation since 1982 (I've been here since 1989), and do nothing other than procure for overseas. All the best, wherever you are.

reply to John (no#5)We are going to Bulgaria on holiday at the end of october and want to take our dog with us as we will be there for about 4 weeks. We have been trying to find out what the requirements are for animals with no luck! I would assume an export certificate is only needed when taking a dog or cat into the country for good. So do we only need a passport, as we will be taking our dog back out again? If anyone can help, we would appreciate it.

Hi to Bulgaria, if there is anyone who can advise with queries we would be very grateful. We have a house near Vidin and are planning to move over to live we need to find out information about the health insurance needed, to meet the requirements for the registration forms at the police station that we have to fill in when we reach Bulgaria. Also what do you know from experience would be reasonable monthly living cost needed for every day bills, food, etc?. We are thinking of traveling over by road are there any problems we need to take into account at the border?. Thank you if you read this and we would appretiate any advice, we are really looking forward to our move but we are not one of the affluent from uk, just ordinary folk, so we need to be a bit careful as we have given up our home here to finance this venture. thanking you Pat and Tony.

To Tony & PatI have found that the Police are no longer taking addresses or anything else from foreigners for a year now, if you go and queue up they will tell you it is no longer done, the only places doing this are the hotels, I don't know what they do with all the information. The price of shopping is difficult to say exactly, if you said 30gbp per week for the 2 of you, 40gbp if you like to live rich, eat out if you like for about 1.50gbp you can have a nice hot meal in a restaurant with a drink, find where all the locals go. If you want to drive save yourself a lot of hassle and avoid Serbia & Croatia, go through Hungary, Romania and catch the ferry across the Danube. The roads especially in Romania are not as good but the borders are much more relaxed and you can bring all your stuff and they won't even ask you what you have.

Gals and Guys, help me out here, I'm tearing my hair out. I was wondering if you could do a me a favour since you're living in Sofia and I'm at my wits' end trying to find out the real rental prices in Manastirski Livadi in the south of Sofia. All the agencies seem to be lying, especially here in the UK. Could you tell me anything you know about the current prices, like say for a 2 bed residential apartment? Cheers, I'd really owe you one!!!

HiWe are about to open a Hotel in Ravda next to Sunny Beach and we are looking for someone who maybe has moved out to the area around Burgas or Sunny Beach and might be looking to do a bit of part time work, as a compere. Yes a compere. The work would involve the typical British favourites like bingo and karaoke and what ever else we can think up between us. This would be in the evenings mostly. Interested give me a ring on 00441743791930. Have fun and make a little bit of money at the same time.
