Any UK builders thinking of setting up in Bulgaria who want to head over and try it out?

Why not have me pay you to do some renovation work on my house. I know there are suppliers in Teteven - certainly heating equipment, bathroom suites/fittings and general supplies.

Don't just pack your bags and go - hoping for the best!

I need rewiring, plumbing and the fitting of two bathrooms and a kitchen.

Much of the tarting up - painting and bits of plastering - I can do myself, so I just need the basics so I can stay there while I work.

I have a video tour of the house on CD so you know exactly what you are getting in to prior to committing yourself.

Hi all,

we are looking for a long term rental in Bulgaira, not sunny beach though, way too busy for our liking, hoping for somewhere like Albena. It is so hard to find long term rentals, we would have to have an internet connection as we work on line, we would then b looking to buy once we found an ara we liked, but we would be looking for a rental for approx 2 years, anyone able to help?

Hello,

If any of you have bought or are considering buying timber framed houses, do get the condition of the timbers thoroughly checked before carrying out any renovation work. Insect infestation, dry rot, wet rot etc - All this needs sorting out first. Covering up or varnishing a problem it won't make it go away and it will probably get much worse! It is vital your timbers are structurally strong and sound.

Any contacts from Bulgarian stone and timber conservation/preservation experts would be much appreciated.

I am a lawyer and spend one week in four in Bulgaria, when purchasing property in Bulgaria please ensure that you are getting full notary declaration and make sure that your monies go directly into the developers account and not to the agent. Also make sure that your monies are going into a holding account, this will safeguard against the developer going bankrupt. I have colleagues that are Bulgarian lawyers and i can help you save your monies on the currency exchange. Also I am very familiar with Bulgarian law. I know reputable builders in Bulgaria that are reliable,sober and inexpensive. You should also only invest in new development if a UK structual engineer is involved by taking core samples ect.

I am Bulgarian currently living and working in Bulgaria in town of Stara Zagora.I have been working in London four years as a British qualified electrician, City and guilds, Hammersmith and West London College.16th edition wiring regulations qualified.

I have a good experience in domestic and industrial works, refurbishing also. I have been working in Savoy Hotel, Barkley Hotel, BBS, Vodafone, and Mandarin Oriental ... as part of LASER.ltd-electrical contractors. Also I do alarm systems, fire alarms, CCTV, access control...

We are a Maltese company Developing. Demolishing, Building and converting houses etc here in Malta. We have now moved to Bulgaria doing all the same we are doing in Malta. English Speaking and all technical Support is given. Works are done with a contract with a a Time limit to finish works.

I was suprised to hear your post about www.mekotek.com, I suppose you are in the building trade and they are big competitors for you.

Please tell us more about your problems on this forum, and give them a chance to read it rather than writing silly comments with nothing to back up your jealousy!.

I have recommended them to many people and have got nothing but thanks from the people I referred.

They have been taken on by local government in BG for jobs, so this really shows how good they are? Check out their website www.mekotek.com. IS THIS REALLY A DODGY BUILDER??? Its a big company, not a Local Builder. Daniel Jones is the UK representative.

I have been keeping an eye on this forum and have to agree with IAN, I have not yet had my work done by www.Mekotek.com, but they have quoted me and I have accepted the work, they showed me other completed jobs in Bulgaria, and I stayed in a completed property during my stay.

Their prices were average in my opinion, but I felt comfortable going with a large company with a friendly UK Rep.

The staff in BG who survey your house with you are perfect at English, and its easy to explain what you want.

Dear White Van Man noticed you have not put a name to your moan.

We have been dealing with Dan Jones from www.mekotek.com since April this year and have probably done his head in at times because of the extra work that I keep adding on. I have been back to check on the property on numerous occasions they have picked me up at the airport even when I have got in early hours of the morning. The work is superb cannot fault the workmanship, you can go to the site to see how the building is progressing (Granitivo) Dan and his colleagues are on the phone talking as well. These people that complain either must be in the business and not getting any work or just plain old grumblers with nothing better to do. He has even helped freinds of ours find places as well.

I am due to move to Bulgaria in febuary 2007 with my wife Angie and two boys Dayne and Jake.So if you require a competent builder to carry out renovation,Extension or house build then please do not hesitate in contacting me.I have worked in the construction industry since i left schoolin 1982 and had been a contracts manager for several years in the nineties.I decided to go self-employed some 8 years ago and have a first class reputation.I have noticed it is hard to get the right person for the job,so don't gamble on a cowboy!!
