getting your furniture through customs

I`m trying to find out from the Embassy if I need any documentation, to itemise furniture and personal belongings, in order for my removal company to get them through customs?
This has been recommended by the company, and it can take such a long time to get sorted with the embassy!
Does anyone know - while I1m waiting for a reply!
