A family member of mine was promised a chihuahua from a Mr Smith James of Cameroon Africa. He keeps asking for more money for one reason or another. I've emailed the company and although they seem legit, I'm pretty sure this is a scam, and there is no dog.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM ROY IN CAMEROON. HE ALSO HAS A PERSON BY THE NAME OF ANGELA WORKING FOR HIM. HE IS SUPPOSEDLY FROM GERMANY, LIVING IN NAROBI, BUT TRAVELS TO CAMEROON FREQUENTLY. HE PROMISES, TAKES YOUR MONEY, BUT DOES NOT DELIVER.

What is the "military gaming board" and why don't you tell everyone your "procedure" for dealing with the fraud rather than having them contact an "anonymous" email at yahoo?

After receiving an offer to send me a puppy for 'free', I was very dubious as the advertiser was sounding like he lived in the UK but infact was shipping the pup from Cameroon. As yet he has asked me for no money and ensures that he just wants a good home for the pup, however, I am waiting for the sting. He has sent me the 'shipping' method as detailed in my weblink, as you can see, its hardly professional global material and also has a lot of similarities to other tracking websites mentioned in previous posts, although this one does not have a contact number. Obviously I do not believe for one second that a puppy will turn up, however I will let all you good people know how this scam works. Message boards like this are good to air the oppinions and route out fraudsters like this, so i will keep you posted.

i'm not sure if i've fallen into a fraud

the person told me to ship the moneygram to cameroon because her daughter is going to school at st. mary's bible college and gave me this address and #:

Ngoula Scott,

St Mary's bible collage

1324 central city's lake

commercial Av.

CITY:Yaounde

COUNTRY:Cameroon.

Tell:002376363411

Zipcode:237.

She said she was going to ship it by airplane and i'll receive a call from the airport when it arrives. but i did not.

I've already paid half through moneygram at walmart. I had a bad feeling after and searched online. and i am worried.

Is it a scam? please help...

I believe that I got scammed and would like to know if anyone has had a similar situation and who I should contact.

I was in touch with a so called nun by the name of Sister Caren, [christmission@Bornagain.com], from New Orleans. She said that she worked for the Christian Mission and referred to themselves as a missionary rescue team, and that they were trying to raise money for orphanages around the world. That the English bulldogs that she had there were basically free if you give a donation. She said that the puppies were 9 weeks old, vaccinated and that she had shipped to Philadelphia several times. She specified a donation of $200 and she picked the Christ Orphanage in Cameroon. The dogs were not in Cameroon but in New Orleans and that she would ship them as soon as the money was donated. I emailed her back and she had me give all my information so that she could arrange shipping. She sent us emails with the dog's name, Jacky, and she made us promise to prepare the place for Jacky and promise that we would send annual pictures of him to her. She told us to go out and buy toys and that food for the dog wasn't a problem because they changed their food quite often to avoid a problem when they got to their adopted house. She told us that he loved to play with kids and other animals, that he was house trained. She usually emailed me back right away, but when she didn't she would say she was in prayers, and apologize for not getting back to me sooner. I thought that I was being careful the whole time and actually spoke with the accountant and director Father Joel on the phone from the Christ mission in New Orleans (504 543 4534). I emailed with a different lady who the donation would go to- Sister Jennifer- email [christ_orphanage@jesusanswers.com]. She arranged for me to have money western unioned to a priest by the name of Rev. Father Kimbi Harrison, that is the director of the Christ orphanage. For her I also got a phone number, but never talked to her directly cause it just rings and rings (011-237-

7932823). She told me that she was so happy that I could give the orphans help and that they preferred Western Union Because it is closer to the orphanage, which is located in Bamenda, Cameroon. When she received the donation, she thanked me so much for the donation and told me that they would be buying all the kids food with it and every time made sure to say GOD BLESS YOU at the end of each message.

The day the dog was supposed to be shipped, they emailed me and told me that the flight was more expensive than they had thought and it was $350. I called Continental Airlines to see how much it is to ship a dog and they said $189.50 + the weight of the dog and the weight of the Kennel, which would add up to about $350. Once again, the idiot that I am believed them and sent them the extra $150 for the flight.

Once again I contacted Sister Jennifer in Cameroon, who said that the whole operation was legit and that the money would be used for a donation to the orphanage and that the cost of the flight would be covered in donations. She made me promise that I would take Jacky as a family member and not just a pet. She said that they" bought some food for the orphans and there are very grateful. The orphans said thank u for ur help may God Bless u more and moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."

The following morning I receive an email that the dog is on a Continental Airlines flight and the number of the flight. They said that the dog would be on it, but they were rushing to get a health certificate. I called continental to find out what the health certificate was and they just said a list of the dog’s vaccinations. I said ok, they verified that the plane was correct, but said they had no dog named Jacky on the flight. I then had them search under my name, and the sender’s name. There was nothing.

I have emailed Sister Caren non-stop since yesterday, with no response. I emailed Sister Jennifer who responded and told me that. She couldn't believe that sister Caren hadn't responded to my emails and that there must be something wrong. She emailed me back today and told me that she got in touch with Caren and that her email has been blocked by a person that she didn't know. She said that she is trying to get in touch with me but can't. The email went on asking for more money: SHE SAID JACKY IS IN THE AIRPORT.SHE HAVE TO ARRANGE FOR JACKY HEALTH CERTIFICATE BEFOR JACKY CAN BE FLIGHT OKAY.SHE SAID FOR JACKY TO BE FLIGHT SHE HAVE TO MAKE THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE AND IT WILL COST $300 AND THE ACCOUNTANT HAVE OFFER $100 TO HELP SO IF U CAN TREID AND MAKE $200 TO THEM OR TO ME BECUASE I WILL BE TRAVELLING TO NEW ORLEAN TOMMOROW JUST BECUASE OF JACKY TO BE FLIGHT TO U OKAY.PLEASE IF U CAN TRIED AND MAKE THE $200 I WILL TRIED ALL I CAN FOR U TO RECIEVE JACKY.TOMMOROW OKAY."

Now I believe I have been scammed and I don't know what to do about it. If someone can get back to me and tell me what to do, it would be great.

Peter, you are being scammed I'm afraid. The old Cameroon or Benin import scam. Same with Meghen who just described the Cameroon animal export scam. Both are the Advance Fee Fraud also known as 419 scam. They will pass off as the Health department of Cameroon, or Pet Transport company and also as a barrister or others, and demand various fees for various documents from supposably Health department, or shipping company etc.., They will ask that you send the money by Western Union or Money Gram because it's anonymous, they can pick it up without proper i.d. and untraceable so you chance of recovery is nil. They use free webmail addresses (@Bornagain.com is a free webmail much like Yahoo), mobile phones, fake names and fake documents. All untraceable.

If you have any doubts, please go to Fraudwatchers where all these scams are described including their fake documents etc.., You can also ask questions. It's anonymous and free.

thanks for this website. i found the same type ad on several different puppy sites. sounded too good to be true. the listing said they were in sf but the phone number to call was cameroon....i'm therefore going to report these listings as fraud on the websites. makes me angry....esp. for the people that fall prey to these scam artists. the internet has brought on a whole new breed of them!

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful info. I have been doing some research lately on all the fishy adds.

My question is... I advertised a fish tank for sale on my local classifieds website. I know that this can be viewed all over the world, but I was expecting that it would be a local buyer, due to the large size and it would cost so much to ship. But to my suprise, I have had many people respond to my add. All of them make me uneasy though. He is an example....

"Hello seller, I am very much interested in the immediate purchase of your item. I am actually buying it for a client.payment will be made with money order/cashier's check. The payment you will recieve will include shipping fee, insurance and my own commission as an agent. After your confirmation that the money cleared your bank,i will want the shipment cost and my comission fees that has been agree with my client sent to my shipper via western union money transfer in one of their outlet around you so that the shipper can begin all neccessary shipment procedure/pick up of the item in your place.if you agree with me to this capacity i would be grateful you reply my email and give me your full name and contact address/phone number and your finalprice for the item so that i will have my client notified of your acceptance of the offer. thanks for your understanding. i will wait your quick response asap. Get back to me. REGARDS. "

What does this mean and why does he have to send me money for the shipper? Why cant they just pay it all?

Has anyone had and expericance like this?

Hey guys..i wished i had read this email before isent money. i was promised a beutiful Yorkie puppy if i sent the shipping money. The lady's email addres was berryanne_pet@yahoo.com and supposively she sent the puppies on a transit flight. When she said she lived in Chicago i didnt understand why she had to send the puppy to Camoroon. But anyways like a dumbass i payed the money because the shipping company told me that if i didnt pay by a certain time the puppy would miss the flight. So i payed but they said they recieved the money at a certain time. You guys Camship is a scam. and i regret spending my totlal of of about 250 on all because in order to send the money it had to be through Western Union and the fee was 16 for every time i sent money. But the thing is that they said the puppy would be mailed first thing tomorown once i payed a fee of insurance. wich i stupidly believed. The insurance was 100 dollars and acording to them i would recieve 80% of what i payed at the airport. I didnt want to give more money but the laddy "Ms. Ann" kept begging me that her poor puppy was going to be left alone. So it broke my hear. and i payed. A couple of hours later the director of this so called camshipping says that the dogs catched a diseas and i need to wait for 3 days untill the puppy recovers. I decided that it was all a scam and they were all false. Ms. ann and the camship company. Whats worse is that the lady writes to me saying that let them keep the money. But that she is comming to Dallas and would like to see my picture. I was not stupid this time and i did not send my picture but who knows what these false people would have done. Well i really hope that this helps anybody out there trying to buy a puppy. Janet

Just to let you all know I was scammed by Cameroon Pet Express (who does not have a website anymore), A Mrs. Ann Wilson who by the way is a he, and Pet deliviery. Ann Wilson scams poeple on birds and dogs. He has many email address. Do not trust anyone that wants a money wire. Especially when you find out they are not within the U.S.
