A family member of mine was promised a chihuahua from a Mr Smith James of Cameroon Africa. He keeps asking for more money for one reason or another. I've emailed the company and although they seem legit, I'm pretty sure this is a scam, and there is no dog.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM ROY IN CAMEROON. HE ALSO HAS A PERSON BY THE NAME OF ANGELA WORKING FOR HIM. HE IS SUPPOSEDLY FROM GERMANY, LIVING IN NAROBI, BUT TRAVELS TO CAMEROON FREQUENTLY. HE PROMISES, TAKES YOUR MONEY, BUT DOES NOT DELIVER.

What is the "military gaming board" and why don't you tell everyone your "procedure" for dealing with the fraud rather than having them contact an "anonymous" email at yahoo?

After receiving an offer to send me a puppy for 'free', I was very dubious as the advertiser was sounding like he lived in the UK but infact was shipping the pup from Cameroon. As yet he has asked me for no money and ensures that he just wants a good home for the pup, however, I am waiting for the sting. He has sent me the 'shipping' method as detailed in my weblink, as you can see, its hardly professional global material and also has a lot of similarities to other tracking websites mentioned in previous posts, although this one does not have a contact number. Obviously I do not believe for one second that a puppy will turn up, however I will let all you good people know how this scam works. Message boards like this are good to air the oppinions and route out fraudsters like this, so i will keep you posted.

i'm not sure if i've fallen into a fraud

the person told me to ship the moneygram to cameroon because her daughter is going to school at st. mary's bible college and gave me this address and #:

Ngoula Scott,

St Mary's bible collage

1324 central city's lake

commercial Av.

CITY:Yaounde

COUNTRY:Cameroon.

Tell:002376363411

She said she was going to ship it by airplane and i'll receive a call from the airport when it arrives. but i did not.

I've already paid half through moneygram at walmart. I had a bad feeling after and searched online. and i am worried.

Is it a scam? please help...

I believe that I got scammed and would like to know if anyone has had a similar situation and who I should contact.

I was in touch with a so called nun by the name of Sister Caren, [christmission@Bornagain.com], from New Orleans. She said that she worked for the Christian Mission and referred to themselves as a missionary rescue team, and that they were trying to raise money for orphanages around the world. That the English bulldogs that she had there were basically free if you give a donation. She said that the puppies were 9 weeks old, vaccinated and that she had shipped to Philadelphia several times. She specified a donation of $200 and she picked the Christ Orphanage in Cameroon. The dogs were not in Cameroon but in New Orleans and that she would ship them as soon as the money was donated. I emailed her back and she had me give all my information so that she could arrange shipping. She sent us emails with the dog's name, Jacky, and she made us promise to prepare the place for Jacky and promise that we would send annual pictures of him to her. She told us to go out and buy toys and that food for the dog wasn't a problem because they changed their food quite often to avoid a problem when they got to their adopted house. She told us that he loved to play with kids and other animals, that he was house trained. She usually emailed me back right away, but when she didn't she would say she was in prayers, and apologize for not getting back to me sooner. I thought that I was being careful the whole time and actually spoke with the accountant and director Father Joel on the phone from the Christ mission in New Orleans (504 543 4534). I emailed with a different lady who the donation would go to- Sister Jennifer- email [christ_orphanage@jesusanswers.com]. She arranged for me to have money western unioned to a priest by the name of Rev. Father Kimbi Harrison, that is the director of the Christ orphanage. For her I also got a phone number, but never talked to her directly cause it just rings and rings (011-237-

7932823). She told me that she was so happy that I could give the orphans help and that they preferred Western Union Because it is closer to the orphanage, which is located in Bamenda, Cameroon. When she received the donation, she thanked me so much for the donation and told me that they would be buying all the kids food with it and every time made sure to say GOD BLESS YOU at the end of each message.

The day the dog was supposed to be shipped, they emailed me and told me that the flight was more expensive than they had thought and it was $350. I called Continental Airlines to see how much it is to ship a dog and they said $189.50 + the weight of the dog and the weight of the Kennel, which would add up to about $350. Once again, the idiot that I am believed them and sent them the extra $150 for the flight.

Once again I contacted Sister Jennifer in Cameroon, who said that the whole operation was legit and that the money would be used for a donation to the orphanage and that the cost of the flight would be covered in donations. She made me promise that I would take Jacky as a family member and not just a pet. She said that they" bought some food for the orphans and there are very grateful. The orphans said thank u for ur help may God Bless u more and moreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee."

The following morning I receive an email that the dog is on a Continental Airlines flight and the number of the flight. They said that the dog would be on it, but they were rushing to get a health certificate. I called continental to find out what the health certificate was and they just said a list of the dog’s vaccinations. I said ok, they verified that the plane was correct, but said they had no dog named Jacky on the flight. I then had them search under my name, and the sender’s name. There was nothing.

I have emailed Sister Caren non-stop since yesterday, with no response. I emailed Sister Jennifer who responded and told me that. She couldn't believe that sister Caren hadn't responded to my emails and that there must be something wrong. She emailed me back today and told me that she got in touch with Caren and that her email has been blocked by a person that she didn't know. She said that she is trying to get in touch with me but can't. The email went on asking for more money: SHE SAID JACKY IS IN THE AIRPORT.SHE HAVE TO ARRANGE FOR JACKY HEALTH CERTIFICATE BEFOR JACKY CAN BE FLIGHT OKAY.SHE SAID FOR JACKY TO BE FLIGHT SHE HAVE TO MAKE THE HEALTH CERTIFICATE AND IT WILL COST $300 AND THE ACCOUNTANT HAVE OFFER $100 TO HELP SO IF U CAN TREID AND MAKE $200 TO THEM OR TO ME BECUASE I WILL BE TRAVELLING TO NEW ORLEAN TOMMOROW JUST BECUASE OF JACKY TO BE FLIGHT TO U OKAY.PLEASE IF U CAN TRIED AND MAKE THE $200 I WILL TRIED ALL I CAN FOR U TO RECIEVE JACKY.TOMMOROW OKAY."

Now I believe I have been scammed and I don't know what to do about it. If someone can get back to me and tell me what to do, it would be great.

Peter, you are being scammed I'm afraid. The old Cameroon or Benin import scam. Same with Meghen who just described the Cameroon animal export scam. Both are the Advance Fee Fraud also known as 419 scam. They will pass off as the Health department of Cameroon, or Pet Transport company and also as a barrister or others, and demand various fees for various documents from supposably Health department, or shipping company etc.., They will ask that you send the money by Western Union or Money Gram because it's anonymous, they can pick it up without proper i.d. and untraceable so you chance of recovery is nil. They use free webmail addresses (@Bornagain.com is a free webmail much like Yahoo), mobile phones, fake names and fake documents. All untraceable.

If you have any doubts, please go to Fraudwatchers where all these scams are described including their fake documents etc.., You can also ask questions. It's anonymous and free.

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful info. I have been doing some research lately on all the fishy adds.

My question is... I advertised a fish tank for sale on my local classifieds website. I know that this can be viewed all over the world, but I was expecting that it would be a local buyer, due to the large size and it would cost so much to ship. But to my suprise, I have had many people respond to my add. All of them make me uneasy though. He is an example....

"Hello seller, I am very much interested in the immediate purchase of your item. I am actually buying it for a client.payment will be made with money order/cashier's check. The payment you will recieve will include shipping fee, insurance and my own commission as an agent. After your confirmation that the money cleared your bank,i will want the shipment cost and my comission fees that has been agree with my client sent to my shipper via western union money transfer in one of their outlet around you so that the shipper can begin all neccessary shipment procedure/pick up of the item in your place.if you agree with me to this capacity i would be grateful you reply my email and give me your full name and contact address/phone number and your finalprice for the item so that i will have my client notified of your acceptance of the offer. thanks for your understanding. i will wait your quick response asap. Get back to me. REGARDS. "

What does this mean and why does he have to send me money for the shipper? Why cant they just pay it all?

Has anyone had and expericance like this?

Hey guys..i wished i had read this email before isent money. i was promised a beutiful Yorkie puppy if i sent the shipping money. The lady's email addres was berryanne_pet@yahoo.com and supposively she sent the puppies on a transit flight. When she said she lived in Chicago i didnt understand why she had to send the puppy to Camoroon. But anyways like a dumbass i payed the money because the shipping company told me that if i didnt pay by a certain time the puppy would miss the flight. So i payed but they said they recieved the money at a certain time. You guys Camship is a scam. and i regret spending my totlal of of about 250 on all because in order to send the money it had to be through Western Union and the fee was 16 for every time i sent money. But the thing is that they said the puppy would be mailed first thing tomorown once i payed a fee of insurance. wich i stupidly believed. The insurance was 100 dollars and acording to them i would recieve 80% of what i payed at the airport. I didnt want to give more money but the laddy "Ms. Ann" kept begging me that her poor puppy was going to be left alone. So it broke my hear. and i payed. A couple of hours later the director of this so called camshipping says that the dogs catched a diseas and i need to wait for 3 days untill the puppy recovers. I decided that it was all a scam and they were all false. Ms. ann and the camship company. Whats worse is that the lady writes to me saying that let them keep the money. But that she is comming to Dallas and would like to see my picture. I was not stupid this time and i did not send my picture but who knows what these false people would have done. Well i really hope that this helps anybody out there trying to buy a puppy. Janet

Ok, I am so glad that I just told "Jenny" who has been bugging me all day to send her money for her supposedly free pug puppy to find someone else. I thought it was too good to be true, and when I looked up petshipping agents cameroun I found this link.

Has anyone had any problems other than harrasing emails? I am worried that I supplied a family members address as the shipping address.

by the way this ad was posted in my local paper by a jenny cook with a yahoo email address. And as I suspsected her puppy isn't free, and I doubt there is one.

When I get the scam emails for my car for sale... I often reply changing the make/model and PRICE... if I increase the price $20,000 or $30,000 they don't flinch.

That is of course because the price isn't important. Scamming you is.

"i accept payments throught WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER. this is fast, save and reliable."

That is of course true and they "forget" to mention that it is NOT reversible. If you pay for something with your credit card and aren't satisfied you can dispute it. Pay with Western Union and there is no way to get your money back.

She said she had booked the flight and that the puupy was on her way, and the airport would call when she landed. The next morning she contacted us and said that she need $150.00 for pet insuarnce. We sent her the money and she said the puppy would be on her way. A couple more hours passed and she contacted us yet again and said France customs wouldn't allow the puupy to be transported any further unless she had a another kennel. She wanted $200.00 more dollars and we drew the line. I hope someone will read this and it will help with their decision about a puppy from Cameroon. Here is here email address if it can help anyone out.

Hello I believe I was just about to get scamed as well. I answered a local as about a free adoption for a Maltese puppy. The lady said she was a United States citizen. Her name was Allison Jones she was in the peace corps. She said she was doing volunteer work in Cameroon Africa. When I email her about the dog she said she didn't want any money just a good home for her puuppy. A couple emails later she said she wanted me to take the puppy and a grey African Parrot. She didn't want to separate them. I said o.k next email she said she would ship them on Monday morning. Then she said I would have to pay $250.oo to contact the airport. the number was in vailed it was 00966-6969 . Then some man named Mr. Smith emaild me from the airport wanting the money sent and that the animals were waiting at the airport. The email looked suspicious. I emailed him asking how does he want me to pay. I am sure he will say Western union. Any way thank god i found this sight before I sent any money I am sure it is a scam.......Thanks Tonya

Ryan Nance I am sorry you got scammed.

People before you pay these people research the breed and you can tell if something sounds wrong about the info they give you and remember the saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't."

Out of the info this person gave you these are the points that would make me question whether it was a scam.

English Bulldog

Dog Age

3 WEEKS (A 3 wk old pup has yet to be weaned and Bulldogs have difficulty having natural births. This is why the cost is so high. Even if it was being nursed by a person it would still be on formula. No airline would allow them to travel.)

Pet Breed

Bulldog Color (??? not a bulldog but bulldog colour)

---

Neutered (Though some very young pups are fixed it is not the norm)

SHE IS SO CUTE,SHE IS READY FOR A NEW HOME.SHE IS SPOIT WITH KIDS AND OTHER PETS.SHE IS VET CHECKED HEALTH GUARANTEED AND REGISTERED.SHE LIKES PLAYING ALOT.ANY BODY WHO KNOW HE/SHE CAN TAKE GOOD CARE OF HER SHOULD FEEL FREE...................

(You would be lucky to have the puppy walking around well at this age. It wouldn't be running around playing with children and other animals)

Cameroon (Don't buy pets out of country when you can't verify who they are. I have yet to hear of anyone who has actually received a pet from this place)

Also check with the U.S. Customs Service to ensure that you can even import the animal. YOU CANNOT import MONKEYS for PETS under under condition.

I received the following email this morning b/c I am in the market for a yorkie puppy. I don't even know how they got my email adress. The name that is says the email is from is Dorado King:

Thanks for getting back to me,

Well let me explain my self to you concering this puppy, Am a Volunteer Worker to Africa Fighting HIV/AIDS in most Affected African Countries. I was recently Transfered to Cameroon Last 4 weeks. On coming to Cameroon i took my lovely and cute puppy along with me as my only companion, since there was no body to take care after the puppy in the US.

Due to the nature of my job here in cameroon, i can't have time to spent with the puppy, so that is why am looking for home to adopt the puppy.

So i will be sending the puppy from cameroon throught a very fast, save and reliable Pets Flight Company known as PETS EXPRESS SERVICES. pets-express.tripod.com . it shall take some close to 10 hours to get to your Nearest Airport for delivery to your home address by some pets Delivery Agents from the Airport.

i said the cost for every thing is 250$. i just need a home for the puppy, am Glade you came back, the flight infomation and delivery is as follows,

-YOUR FULL NAMES.

-YOUR HOME ADDRESS.

-PONE AND FAX # IF POSSIBLE.

-CLOSEST AIRPORT TO YOUR HOME ADDRESS.

with this, i will register the puppy at the Airport so the puppy can follow the next available flight to the US when the flight cost is paid.

i look forward getting back from you with the above details for the flight.

below are the pictures again.

regards

primus.

Hi my name is Crystal. I the same thing happened to me. It is the same person. She goes by Ngoula Scott and yes she is from Cameroon. I have been searching for this woman or man for 3 months. She promised me a Maltese puppy if I sent the money via money gram, and so like an idiot I sent it. Then she started begging me for more and more. I never saw my puppy. I just got off the phone with her. Her phone number is 011-237-636-3411 or 011-237-552-8556 or 011-237-627-8924. That’s a lot of phone numbers, and they are all hers. I emailed her many a time without a response, until about a month ago. Try calling those numbers, they are all to her. In fact when I just called her right now, she thought I was calling for a bulldog. So whether she is selling puppies or birds cats or monkeys, be weary. Please help me bring her to justice.

Here was our last conversation::

Jullia,

I have been very patient with you. Ngoula told me to email you. I want me money back and I am going to get it soon. How do you expect me to believe that you are hard up for cash when you are traveling around the world? Why would you go through the trouble of sending the dog to Cameroon when it would be cheaper and the right thing to do to send it to me? I hope your conscience keeps you up at night. You call yourself and your daughter a Christian and you have the nerve to say god bless when you are pulling such scams. Do you not love your daughter enough to give of yourself and reach into your own pocket book instead of begging other people for money?

I laugh when you say you will forward these emails to your lawyer. By all means, please do so. You tell me what I have done wrong. Go ahead tell me. I am not the one who stole money. I have collected all my emails too. It’s funny how you have the money to hire a French international Lawyer, yet you had to beg money off of me. How low can you go?!! Do you not see that what you did was wrong? I realize that what I said was harsh, but how do you expect me to feel. You stole $450 from me that is a lot of money. Why haven’t I heard from you in over a month? I sent you the money under the impression that you were an honest woman, trying to raise money for your daughter by selling the “puppy”. And what have I received, nothing at all. You have my contact info and my address. You couldn’t write or call saying that there were some complications? Or maybe you wouldn’t do so? So don’t try to paint me as the bad guy here. I have been more than patient with you. So please bring it on, because I am not the one who stole money, I am not guilty of anything. I know you do not want to admit that what you did was wrong, and that’s okay, I have all the evidence I need to prove it. You just admitted your guilt. So, thank you Jullia.

Well that’s not a very Christian thing to say, Jesus would never say such words. I could just here your voice saying that right now, with such anger and rage, it makes me laugh. I just want to let you know that I love you too!! You must feel pretty lame right now. I was reading your emails and on Tuesday July 4th at 5:57 am (CA time) is when the begging started saying to just “please help send 150 or 200 dollars more, please do it for Dollie. “ How low can you go??!!! (LOL) Yet you sure had enough money to leave the country!!! It amazes me that you know how it is to be defrauded, and then you turn around and do it to someone else. What a winner you are!! Were you trying to scam those people too? Where you trying to sell them sick birds or blind dogs or something? I don’t know, it just sounds like something you would do. I don’t care about your excuses or sob stories, because honestly, I don’t believe anything you say. You’re pathetic, you are a joke to me and I feel sorry for anyone who comes in contact a fraud like you. Oh, and wait a minute; I thought you were going to take me to court. I thought I was the criminal in all of this (….even though I did nothing wrong and you stole from me). Hmm… ponder… ponder…

Crystal , you have to understand that all the names these criminals use are fake, so going after them is useless. These scums are also very arrogant. They apparently have thousands of postings on most classifieds site selling not only pet animals but antique furnitures etc.., The scam is always the same, make you pay for various permits, licence, documents.

That's why it's so important to publicize about these scams, on forums such as this one as well as on anti-scam web sites such as www.fraudwatchers.org and www.scampatrol.org and others. The volunteers on those site work very hard trying to stamp out this type of advance fee frauds, also know as 419 scam.

I suggest you put your energy into joining one of those sites and posting your experience in their forums. Educating the public about these cockroaches is the most efficient prevention at the moment.

Also, anyone who has been scammed by these parasite should lodge a formal complaint with the Cameroon embassy in your country.

Complain, complain, complain, you'll be doing everyone a favour including the honest citizens of Cameroon who are stuck with these criminals, and are paying the price by their economy stagnating. Most Western business won't deal with any Cameroon business knowing the high rate of frauds.

Is there ANY way at ALL to get your money back if you have been scammed?? My boyfriend and I wanted another yorkie (Lil' Bear, our yorkie now, is in desperate need of a playmate) we sent $120 to a lady in Cameroon. I filed a police report, but is there a way to go about this? Please email me.

Once you send money by Western Union, it is GONE. No password, no nothing will keep the person you send it to from picking it up.

Always make internet purchases with your credit card so that you can make a dispute with your credit card company.

BIG HINT! The scammers don't accept credit cards! Why? because you will get your money back (which means they won't get it).

Another HINT! Anywhere you go in the world you can make purchases with your credit card (well, ok, maybe not in Cuba -- but non Americans can). So, if they were legit selling monkeys or dogs, they could accept credit cards.

They are not legit, so their only payment option is Western Union as it is not reversible. Wire Transfers also probably qualify as non-reversible if you are sending them (don't count on it is you receive money that way).

The key is not the names, emails or phone numbers. The key is to do two points of research:

1) independent verification of the supplier (ie: better business bureau or chamber of commerce).

2) method of payment: can you get a refund from the payment processor? a) Western Union: aboely not, b) credit card: read your credit card statement fine print, you have lots of rights.

The bottom line is if you order anything (do any business) from much of Africa and some other countries your chance of being ripped off is probably above 100%

I've been very sad the past week or so because I was scammed by a couple (if that's what they are) in cameroon. When I read this site though I don't feel as bad but i wish I had found it before I had sent 300!! dollars western union for a dog that was up for adoption? I should have known but they said it was for the plane flight. Their names are JENNY and JERRY. I'm sure they have thousands of names though. they're at a yahoo email _homepets. Please if you read this before you decide to adopt a dog from any state, if they ask you to send money western union to Cameroon... run the other way, other wise you will be left without the dog, or pet you wanted and short money.

Another scam from Duoala camroon africa.. Grace Griffith was the name given of the owner of a few monkeys up for addoption.. all that was needed to be paid was shipping.. money was sent to a name "Babhila Peric Sama" for the amount of 375$.. We preferred to pay through credit card, but they kept claiming the machine was broken and they could not use it for some time. after money was sent, a confirmation email was sent, claiming the baby monkey was in route.. a tracking number was given.. the monkey was ordered last night (november 19th, 2006) on the tracking information, it said the monkey arrived at the airport at 11:45 pm on november 16th. The lady Grace Griffith emailed back this morning (november 20th) at 10:30 saying the monkey was in transit. times and dates don't match one bit.. first clue to a rip off. tried calling the "Airline" but there is no answer, just a machine saying to call back later. The "Airline" name is Cameroon pet shipping agency. Also on the tracking information, they gave an airplane number, flight arrival, etc. Called the local airport, there is no such flight, they cannot find the airplane, and there are no planes arriving at the said time. This is where we know we were scammed.. obviously people look for the cheapest option when buying a wanted pet, and unfortunately we knew nothing about the scams from cameroon before now. We consider it a lesson learned while there is nothing you can do about getting money back through western union. As unfair as it is.. it's educating and now we know to never deal with anyone asking for anything or giving anything away from cameroon.. all that comes with it is broken hopes, broken promises, and lost money.

Remember! The NAMES DON'T MATTER.

First, there ARE NO MONKEYS.

Second, you cannot IMPORT MONKEYS to the USA.

Third, if you pay by Western Union you can *NEVER* get a refund.

Reply #56 is absolutely right. There are no pets, just scammers. Names are irrelevant since they are all fake. Western Union is suppose to be used only with your closest friends or family, precisely because it's totally anonymous and totally unrecoverable. To use it for internet purchases including these pets is pure folly. Scammers know this and that's why they insist on WU. Money Gram is the same as Western Union.

My understanding is that this is a large gang of Cameroon criminals passing off as various characters including missionaries, nuns etc...,

There is a trove of information on this subject on the anti-fraud site Fraudwatchers. I suggest you read and learn before sending any more money.

There is a guy in Limbe Cameroon claiming to be looking for a home for his two month old daughter, Cindy. Surprise! The magic number for an adoption certificate is...$450! Not only that, but I searched for his email address online and the posting showed up in three or four free ad pages in different states. He sent pictures and everything and offered to bring her. We haven't gotten to the part where he needs me to pay for a plane flight through (another go-figure) Western Union! I can't wait for him to bust that one out so I can tell him where to stick it.

All together it was a total of $300. It sounded good but I stillw as kind of scared when I Found out htey were located inYaounde, Cameroon. I wrote them and said that I did not want to send them money that far because I was scared I would lose my money and they said that they were wiiling to send the puppy before I payed. I thought that was nice so I went on with it. I eneded up sending them $60 to pay to have the puppy delieverd straight to my home and I would pay the rest when I recieved the puppy.I did this and then I got this message after it was sent:

Do you think an airline uses email addresses at a free email provider?

You fell for it because these people are skilled (practiced) at writing their stories, excuses etc. They make it seem real and genuine.

Remember they are probably sending out hundreds if not thousands of emails and can learn which ones work and which ones don't. The couple of hundreds dollars (or more) they can get is a lot of money for them so there is a lot of motivation to run this scam.

The key is to independently verify all the information, or better yet buy a pet from a place where you get to visit it first.

i have not been scammed. i have been very careful and have learned not to buy puppies from overseas. especcially from africa. any number that is given as a contact and begins with (206) is most probably a scam. if the people say they are on missionary work, or they would like to give the puppy away because conditions are too hot and they dont want the pupyp to die, or if they just recently moved to cameroon or africa, or if they are on a trip fighting aids in africa, it is probably a scam. your best bet is to buy a puppy local to you so you can look at hte puppy before you buy it to make sure your getting what you want. and also to ensure that you will be getting the puppy, and avoiding scam, since you will be picking it up or meeting to pick it up. also it could possibly be a scam if they ask you to send them the closest airport to you and other personal info asap. also if you are looking on the internet and you see the same pic of one puppy with different locations that is most probably a scam. if you see the same description and words about a puppy but with differnt pics or locations beside it then it is probably a scam. you should avaoid purchasing "puppies" from africa or overseas. i hope i was helpful in your trying to avoid scams or seeing if you were scammed. i am still looking for a maltese puppy for cheap that is local to me. so if you can help me please post a message titled maltese puppy..thanks!

I have recently been searching for a capuchin monkey. THANK GOD I DIDN'T FALL FOR A CAMEROON SCAM WHICH I DID GET A LOT OF. But I now have been talking to a lady out of VA and she has even went as far as making payments with her to complete the transaction. She does want $550 for shipping and which includes down payment. She even had a list of references, so of course I e-mailed them and I got one back that said she had received a monkey from her, blah...blah...blah, but she actually photocopied her i.d. to prove that the deal was legit with the other woman!!!! Everything sounds very legit I just don't know with all these scams out there. I have contacted the USDA to get more info because she did e-mail me her USDA number also. Her method of payment e-gold!!!! Help!! I just don't know!

How do you know she is in VA? Have you contacted the BBB in VA to confirm her information?

Where is the monkey being shipped from? Have you contacted the U.S. Customs Service to see what papers you need to import the monkey (hint: you cannot import monkeys).

Can you get a refund from e-gold if the monkey doens't show up? Hint: always buy with credit cards where you can dispute bad transactions with your credit card company.

Can you verify the contact information for the references independently?

Have you talked to the actual airlines that will be transporting the monkey (I mean contact them via the phone book, not some website you are given by the seller). Does the airline regularly ship monkeys? How much does it actually cost?

I suggest if you want pet monkeys to move to a country where they roam wild and purchase some property in an area where the monkeys will freely visit you. Costa Rica might be a good choice for many Americans.

I searched online through the Phila, Jersey, Delaware and PA county classified ads to purchase a female yorkie terrier approx 1 year old. Within the past three days I have received 7-8 emails (all from different email address but for one person who had 2 email address) all of whom claimed to be in the USA with the puppies, however upon further conversation with these people, everyone of them recently relocated to various parts of Cameroon. Amazingly, on Sunday they lived in the US, however by Monday morning (starting at 12:34 a.m. Mon), each and every one of these individuals had relocated to Cameroon and was forced to bring their puppy yorkshire terrier with them because they could not find anyone to take her. Fortunately, I had one telephone number, which when called, sounded like a fax machine. Additionally, quite a few of the people told me stupid things that piqued my interest and made me research what they were telling me to see if it was true. One individual claimed to be working at the US Embassy in Cameroon. I have owned yorkies for many years and know it is a miracle of sorts to pay less than 650.00 for one, however these people were only charging between 100.00 and 250.00. Then I found the website for the cameroon puppy scam which I with complete certainty I knew these individuals intentions were untoward. It makes you wonder how our government is so concerned with protecting other countries citizens, yet they don't really seem to mind much when US citizens are scammed by these theifs in cameroon. I also want to know exactly what it is that the on-line companies are doing to prevent scamming on line. What justice is left in our world for honest/innocent people.

I am SO thankful i found this site. Me and My family were just about the buy a maltese puppy from a family in Pennsylvania. The dad asked me to send the money to his daughter who was doing field work in Cameroon because this was her dog and she needed the money. He then proceeded to send me photo ID of himself so i would believe him. I looked at the Id and he looked about 20 yrs old trying to say he had a daughter at this age!! I set everything up for me and my 3 yr old daughter to go pick this puppy up he even knew that i was taking my little girl with me and that this puppy was for her! How sick are these people!!!! It makes me so angry. The first thing that set me off of the email was the way they speak they miss words and make stuff up. Did not sound like he was american to me. This people are horrible and i hope they get what they deserve!!!:@

I am glad that I find this site. I was looking to adopt a parrot, and contacted two person thru email. But I found out later that they are not in the US. I did some research and found that it is illegal to ship parrots to the US from oversea, but these people insist they have permit and there will be no problem for me to pick up the parrot from the airport, or even ship it to my house !! Of course they asked for money thru Western Union. My husband reminded me that once the money is transfered, it's GONE. So I turned down the offer. Then I found this site. One of the person who is trying to persuade me to adopt her hyacinth macaw is from Cameroon. I think it is a scam. Now I know not to adopt any pet from oversea. Don't even think about it.

Ok, so my suspisions made me do some research. I am dealing with someone with the email address ismaray08@yahoo.com regarding a bulldog of 12 weeks of age for adoption for $500. She is willing to send it now with no money up front and once I get the puppy health checked and cleared I can then send them money. Has anyone dealt with this person before. DUMB AZZ MISTAKE #1 Then she said everything was good and she was on her way. well nope she wasn't she called me at 2:30 in the morning. I didn't answer i was sleeping! so i called her back in the morning and she said "THE BABY PUPPY, SHE IS ALL ALONE AND STUCK IN FRANCE. THEY NEED 220 EURO FOR INSURENCE. YOU WILL GET 200 BACK WHEN YOU GET HER FROM THE AIRPORT. PLEASE SHE'S ALL ALONE ANS I'M WORRIED SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN TO HER". Unfortanatly Very convincing. LARRY LINKS LIMITED is a scam. They are not listed in the Cameroon phonebooks. Classic Cameroon import scam. They will ask you to pay various fees for nothing, using fake documents.

Do a google search of: cameroon import scam

And Nathalie, you are also being scammed, by the Cameroon pet export scam. There are no pets, be it animals, birds or reptiles exported from Cameroon, only "pretend" pets. These thieves don't have any pets, and they will ask you to pay various fees for nothing also.

Do a search of: cameroon pet scam

Both are advance fee frauds, also known as 419 scam.

We were looking for english dulldog puppies and got a really good deal, two for the price of one. We were contacted from susana and Rev Joe from Doula Camaroon sent us pictures of her two puppies and told us all we had to do was send the money to Roland Kelly from Air France and they would send us the puppies.

They soaked us for lots of money and we never got nothing in return except empty wallet. When we contacted them in regards to the puppies they said they had been shipped to Canada Ontario

Pets Delivery Services in Ontario. Roland Kelly from Air France told us that they wanted 275 more so that the Pets Delevery place in Ontario could send them to us. We sent them the rest of the money because we thought that Roland Kelly from Air France was real.Boy were we dumb. Anyways two days later susana

and Rev Joe contacted me and told me that their was and accident with the puppies and the driver. The driver got into an accident in Douala Camaroon and that both puppies died.

They never even left Camaroon. Now susana and Rev Joe said they are getting a lawyer to sue Air France Airlines. I wonder whatthat will cost me.

He claimed he is location in Makati, the Central Business District of the Philippines. but when I asked him how come he claimed he's from the Philippines when in fact, he came from bloody Cameroon, he changed the topic and refused to answer but he insist that he can send the dog in 8-9 hours from Cameroon. I didn't know Cameroon got an airline that travel 2X faster than the speed of sound. Joking aside. it's a pity a lot of scammers are out there in Cameroon. Thank God for this web site. I, too, started to fall for the scam for a t cup yorkie. when I found this website, I got suspicious and told her of her scam via e mail. she quickly denied it and said she would send the dog C.O.D. I told her to use a certain pet carrier company and told her the cost and said I would not pay a penny, more and if I am asked to, I will report her. I haven't heard a word since.

Her user name is Puppy Love and her e mail is pup_love@yahoo.com

In the meantime, Pet Express Cameroon sent me an e mail and asked for my address, etc. to ship the dog. I e mailed them back and accused them of the scam and told them I would not accept the dog if they shipped via carmeroon pet express. AGAIN, I haven't heard a word from them in over a week. Please BEWARE pet ads. Like a person above said-there is enough animals right here in the Good Old USA to adopt that needs good homes. aGAIN, i THANK YOU FOR THIS WEBSITE

OK so I wanted a chihuahua puppy really bad but I live in Hawaii and its so hard to find one for a resonable price here. So this guy named Frunwi Fredrick contacted me about a 15 week old female he had and I could adopt it and only pay $300 for shipping. I thought this guy was in Honolulu on another island 2o min from mine, im thinking good deal. So I asked him where he was located he said he just got transfered to Cameroon. I reply CAMEROON?? Like africa??? Two hours later he replies yes basically do u want the dog or not? heres my adress go to western union and send the money. Then I start thinking... I dont remember what ur puppy looks like and honestly I cant recall what website I found you from. Plus Hawaii has all these quarenteen laws. The guy skips the website question and says that when he bought the puppy at 4 weeks old it cost him $2000 and it has already been quarenteened when it came to africa he just doesnt spend time with her and thinks she would be better off going back to someone in the US. Then he said that he would send the puppy first then have me pay after but he has a lot of bills to pay. Plus he acussed me of going to mistreat his puppy because I told him that I was concerned about the money thing and that he could be a scam. He got all upset with me and said how dare u question me im a God fearing man blah blah blah

BE CAREFULL and thanks to you guys especially to reply # 84 melissa. I wouldnt have found this great site when I googled his name if it werent for you :)

I sent 100 plus the 25 from western union and then 250 for some insurance that it would be returned now they are asking 450 for quarantine fees. Susana and Rev Joe are up to their old tricks. They recently tried to con me into purchasing two bulldog puppies for a 250 "shipping" fee. Their english in the previous emails weren't bad, but the last one where they wanted to set up payment was highly suspicious. The Enligh was horrible, with words like "ok" several times in a sentence. When they mentioned that they were "Red Cross Volunteers" in Camroon, I was encouraged by my family to investigate. Then I came upon this web site and reply #91, where Chereyl had been duped into giving money to these con artists. So in my last email to these jackasses, I copied and pasted her story and asked them if they were planning on sending me two dead dogs! I don't feel that this travasty is well-known enough to trusting people like us who want to adopt puppies that need homes. I had no idea these people weren't even in the United States until their last email. It seems that a lot of these "camaroon pet scams" are coming through Yahoo, who doesn't seem to care. There must be something more that we can do to raise awareness!

hey there i got scammed!

lady advertised west highland terriers free to a good home! in glasgow!

as i live 7hours away i asked if there was anyother way of meeting or gettin the pup?

if a met her i wonder what would of happened!

i phoned her and we had a nice chat her name was emilly aaron we sent lots of emails toeach other, heres the first one she sent to me which sounds like a few i have heard from you guys i have already read.

hi there,

it was really nice reading from you ok. We really love the interest that you show for our puppies. We are not selling them but we are only interested in looking for a loving and a caring home for them. The reason why we are giving them out is due to the fact that we have been relocated to the USA for a research program that will be lasting for more than a years or even more. So we can not have the puppies over with us. Considering the fact that we love them so much, we decided not to sell them but to give them out to any persons that will be able to convince us that they will love and care for the puppies as if they were thier own children ok. They are all current on all of thier papers and loe playing around with kids and other pets. They are just so adorable. they are 14 weeks old, just the right age for you to bring them up in the way that you feel is the best, by the way, they are home trained. If you are to have any, you will have to assure us that you will love for these puppies ok.They are 14 weeks old. So where are you located and how soon will you want the puppy/puppies over. As regards the research program in the US, we are presently in Glasgow for a training session that will be lasting for a week or two from where we will be leaving for the USA. We will be waiting for your reply soonest, best regards.

to me this sounded pretty normal does it not to you?

by reading most of your other emails they have the sort of same names and they use the same wordings in the emails,

this lady claimed she was from glasgow and gave me a number

i asked for pictures but nothing was sent , her first email to me was a quick reply but the other gt slower,

once they now your interested they dont wanna know!!

dont send ya money through i am begging!!

this must stop!!

shame police dont do there jobs properly!!

has any one worked out how to get their money back?

lets stop this happening!!

and knowing that they sell human babies they must be sick in the head!!

Fraudwatchers.org was where I found out how bad these Cameroon scams get get. People are getting ripped off badly and there are phoney 'lawyers' now taking money from people claiming to be getting your money back in Cameroon. So called police there don't care either from what I've read. I don't think there's anything that's going to happen to the criminals. Don't send a dime to anyone is all I can say. Pets shouldn't be shipped that far anyhow as far as I concerned. I have 2 people trying to get me to buy African Greys and they say GOD bless. $150 is all they want. So far..

Good luck folks and stay safe.

I was promised a tender to supply ECCSA Cameroon with laptops . And then they started asking for money and I knew immediately this was a scam. These people should be put away. It's not fair because we go all out thinking that we have won a tender only to find that it's a scam. Alot of people are losing money they don't have over this.Someone should stop this!

It was sister eddie offering the same dogs and same names... I almost sent the money but thought it was sketchy.

Okay thanks for the information's as we would be taking them to the airlines now , so if you want to take Cutie as well then that means you will be sending $500 so below are the western union informations that you will use in sending the money :

Name : Nkwenti Eric

Country : Cameroon

City/State : Carmen

Address : 10 Airport Road

Zip Code : +237

Test Question : From Who ?

Reply #110 Bubba from deep in your mind - Thu Mar 20 02:30:29 2008

If you are sending money by Western Union to someone in Cameron for a dog, monkey, bird or anything else... you are never going to see the pet, or your money again.

The airlines won't talk to you because they are not transporting anything for you.

BOXER PUPPY SCAM!!! CAMEROON!

We thought we were goin to be getting a girl boxer puppy from a man in cameroon. He contstantly said in his E-mails ''IN HIS DEAD WIFES NAME'' or ''PLEASE, IN THE NAME OF MY DEAD WIFE''

If i had the money i would pay for a flight out there and find the Fu**** and show him what i think.

I urge any one who is asked to send money to Cameroon for ''flight costs'' NOT TO!

The scamming Bast*** has got £160 for a boxer dog puppy that i will never recieve.

In a way i knew it was a scam, but didnt want to admit it seeing as the puppy was sooo cute.

The E-mails i also recieved from the ''AIRPORT'' looked official, SO PLEASE, ANY ONE THINKING OF BUYING A PUPPY FROM CAMEROON, IN THE NAME OF MY NON EXISTANT BOXER PUPPY, DONT!!!!!!

Regardlesss they change the name because I received not too long after an email from someone who was also from Camroon to sell similar dog and seemed alittle weird so I did a little bit of research and found out this is a commong scam! And to think I was actually considering this!

i responded to two ads.the first was for a free yorkie puppy, and he was even going to pay to ship it, i would just agree to pay him back when i received the puppy, well, of course i agreed.that is until i received an email from cameroon national airport(at least thats who they said they were) stating that the puppy was ready to ship, i just needed to send an additional $65.00 for the crate.of course i did not send the money.i should have known it was a scam.he had listed the puppy in over ten locations, charleston and virginia being 2 of them.he actually called me but i couldnt understand him.and after he told me he was from cameroon.which is strange, his ads were from wv.his email is james phillopson brown@yahoo.com(no spaces).the reason im sure he is a scammer is i used different email address and contacted him again he said it was still available when in fact he had already said it was at the airport awaiting shipping to from first email.the second scammer, they say they are from cameroon, NC.they got really angry with me when i refused to pay $120.00 through western union to have a free cockatoo shipped.their emais stephan _usa4ever@yahoo.com(no spaces).both ads were found on stumbleupon.com.please be wary of both people and also the website stumbleupon because there were also alot of repeated ads for free monkeys, dogs even snakes.

Anyone who has been contacted by these people with a phone number can you please contact me? If you still have the names used and/or the phone number they used it would be very helpful in an ongoing investigation. There is a reason why I'm asking but I don't want to publish anymore info on a public forum.

Thank you!
