Another scam from Duoala camroon africa.. Grace Griffith was the name given of the owner of a few monkeys up for addoption.. all that was needed to be paid was shipping.. money was sent to a name "Babhila Peric Sama" for the amount of 375$.. We preferred to pay through credit card, but they kept claiming the machine was broken and they could not use it for some time. after money was sent, a confirmation email was sent, claiming the baby monkey was in route.. a tracking number was given.. the monkey was ordered last night (november 19th, 2006) on the tracking information, it said the monkey arrived at the airport at 11:45 pm on november 16th. The lady Grace Griffith emailed back this morning (november 20th) at 10:30 saying the monkey was in transit. times and dates don't match one bit.. first clue to a rip off. tried calling the "Airline" but there is no answer, just a machine saying to call back later. The "Airline" name is Cameroon pet shipping agency. Also on the tracking information, they gave an airplane number, flight arrival, etc. Called the local airport, there is no such flight, they cannot find the airplane, and there are no planes arriving at the said time. This is where we know we were scammed.. obviously people look for the cheapest option when buying a wanted pet, and unfortunately we knew nothing about the scams from cameroon before now. We consider it a lesson learned while there is nothing you can do about getting money back through western union. As unfair as it is.. it's educating and now we know to never deal with anyone asking for anything or giving anything away from cameroon.. all that comes with it is broken hopes, broken promises, and lost money.

Reply #56 anti-fraud from usa (Contact Member) -

Remember! The NAMES DON'T MATTER.

First, there ARE NO MONKEYS.

Second, you cannot IMPORT MONKEYS to the USA.

Third, if you pay by Western Union you can *NEVER* get a refund.

Reply #56 is absolutely right. There are no pets, just scammers. Names are irrelevant since they are all fake. Western Union is suppose to be used only with your closest friends or family, precisely because it's totally anonymous and totally unrecoverable. To use it for internet purchases including these pets is pure folly. Scammers know this and that's why they insist on WU. Money Gram is the same as Western Union.

My understanding is that this is a large gang of Cameroon criminals passing off as various characters including missionaries, nuns etc...,

There is a trove of information on this subject on the anti-fraud site Fraudwatchers. I suggest you read and learn before sending any more money.

Has anyone ever heard of baby scams in Douala, Cameroon?

Yes heard of alot of scams conerning human babies as of late. They use the same story about loving them sending pictures and Yes they want alot of cash sent either emoney or western union to them and Right now. Sad but true their must be people somewhere actually being that uneducated and sending them money for what from the beginning is questionable.

There is a guy in Limbe Cameroon claiming to be looking for a home for his two month old daughter, Cindy. Surprise! The magic number for an adoption certificate is...$450! Not only that, but I searched for his email address online and the posting showed up in three or four free ad pages in different states. He sent pictures and everything and offered to bring her. We haven't gotten to the part where he needs me to pay for a plane flight through (another go-figure) Western Union! I can't wait for him to bust that one out so I can tell him where to stick it.

Here is the ad:

.Christian Family

.Decent family

.socialised

I have just learned that Mr. Fred Maxime AKA MBATCHOU J.P. also reportedly sent another English Bulldog Pup to someone in Malaysia by the name of Larry Tan Yee Chaun. The departure flight is the exact same as mine was. The only difference is the destination. I hope this individual didn't pay for the dog because he will never get on.

Hello i think that I have been scammed. These people were really nice so I trusted them. They had an advertisment for Yorkies, So I replied to it to see what it was all about. They then replyed back to me and said that they do not feel comfortable selling there puppies but they would adopt them to us if we were willing to pay for chnage of ownership papers ( which were sent to me) and for the shipping! All together it was a total of $300. It sounded good but I stillw as kind of scared when I Found out htey were located inYaounde, Cameroon. I wrote them and said that I did not want to send them money that far because I was scared I would lose my money and they said that they were wiiling to send the puppy before I payed. I thought that was nice so I went on with it. I eneded up sending them $60 to pay to have the puppy delieverd straight to my home and I would pay the rest when I recieved the puppy.I did this and then I got this message after it was sent:

Do you think an airline uses email addresses at a free email provider?

You fell for it because these people are skilled (practiced) at writing their stories, excuses etc. They make it seem real and genuine.

Remember they are probably sending out hundreds if not thousands of emails and can learn which ones work and which ones don't. The couple of hundreds dollars (or more) they can get is a lot of money for them so there is a lot of motivation to run this scam.

The key is to independently verify all the information, or better yet buy a pet from a place where you get to visit it first.

i have not been scammed. i have been very careful and have learned not to buy puppies from overseas. especcially from africa. any number that is given as a contact and begins with (206) is most probably a scam. if the people say they are on missionary work, or they would like to give the puppy away because conditions are too hot and they dont want the pupyp to die, or if they just recently moved to cameroon or africa, or if they are on a trip fighting aids in africa, it is probably a scam. your best bet is to buy a puppy local to you so you can look at hte puppy before you buy it to make sure your getting what you want. and also to ensure that you will be getting the puppy, and avoiding scam, since you will be picking it up or meeting to pick it up. also it could possibly be a scam if they ask you to send them the closest airport to you and other personal info asap. also if you are looking on the internet and you see the same pic of one puppy with different locations that is most probably a scam. if you see the same description and words about a puppy but with differnt pics or locations beside it then it is probably a scam. you should avaoid purchasing "puppies" from africa or overseas. i hope i was helpful in your trying to avoid scams or seeing if you were scammed. i am still looking for a maltese puppy for cheap that is local to me. so if you can help me please post a message titled maltese puppy..thanks!

I have recently been searching for a capuchin monkey. THANK GOD I DIDN'T FALL FOR A CAMEROON SCAM WHICH I DID GET A LOT OF. But I now have been talking to a lady out of VA and she has even went as far as making payments with her to complete the transaction. She does want $550 for shipping and which includes down payment. She even had a list of references, so of course I e-mailed them and I got one back that said she had received a monkey from her, blah...blah...blah, but she actually photocopied her i.d. to prove that the deal was legit with the other woman!!!! Everything sounds very legit I just don't know with all these scams out there. I have contacted the USDA to get more info because she did e-mail me her USDA number also. Her method of payment e-gold!!!! Help!! I just don't know!

Reply #70 anti-fraud from usa (Contact Member) -

How do you know she is in VA? Have you contacted the BBB in VA to confirm her information?

Where is the monkey being shipped from? Have you contacted the U.S. Customs Service to see what papers you need to import the monkey (hint: you cannot import monkeys).

Can you get a refund from e-gold if the monkey doens't show up? Hint: always buy with credit cards where you can dispute bad transactions with your credit card company.

Can you verify the contact information for the references independently?

Have you talked to the actual airlines that will be transporting the monkey (I mean contact them via the phone book, not some website you are given by the seller). Does the airline regularly ship monkeys? How much does it actually cost?

I suggest if you want pet monkeys to move to a country where they roam wild and purchase some property in an area where the monkeys will freely visit you. Costa Rica might be a good choice for many Americans.

I searched online through the Phila, Jersey, Delaware and PA county classified ads to purchase a female yorkie terrier approx 1 year old. Within the past three days I have received 7-8 emails (all from different email address but for one person who had 2 email address) all of whom claimed to be in the USA with the puppies, however upon further conversation with these people, everyone of them recently relocated to various parts of Cameroon. Amazingly, on Sunday they lived in the US, however by Monday morning (starting at 12:34 a.m. Mon), each and every one of these individuals had relocated to Cameroon and was forced to bring their puppy yorkshire terrier with them because they could not find anyone to take her. Fortunately, I had one telephone number, which when called, sounded like a fax machine. Additionally, quite a few of the people told me stupid things that piqued my interest and made me research what they were telling me to see if it was true. One individual claimed to be working at the US Embassy in Cameroon. I have owned yorkies for many years and know it is a miracle of sorts to pay less than 650.00 for one, however these people were only charging between 100.00 and 250.00. Then I found the website for the cameroon puppy scam which I with complete certainty I knew these individuals intentions were untoward. It makes you wonder how our government is so concerned with protecting other countries citizens, yet they don't really seem to mind much when US citizens are scammed by these theifs in cameroon. I also want to know exactly what it is that the on-line companies are doing to prevent scamming on line. What justice is left in our world for honest/innocent people.

I am SO thankful i found this site. Me and My family were just about the buy a maltese puppy from a family in Pennsylvania. The dad asked me to send the money to his daughter who was doing field work in Cameroon because this was her dog and she needed the money. He then proceeded to send me photo ID of himself so i would believe him. I looked at the Id and he looked about 20 yrs old trying to say he had a daughter at this age!! I set everything up for me and my 3 yr old daughter to go pick this puppy up he even knew that i was taking my little girl with me and that this puppy was for her! How sick are these people!!!! It makes me so angry. The first thing that set me off of the email was the way they speak they miss words and make stuff up. Did not sound like he was american to me. This people are horrible and i hope they get what they deserve!!!:@
