Cameroon - Business
I have been scammed

kobo from Canada -

I saw a AD on interent for selling brids. normally I don't believe things on internet. because she told me that she is working in orphanage. So I believed her, send her 700$ for shipping. now she is asking me 500$ for donation for orphanage, otherwise she will not ship to me the brids. and won't give my money back either.

So, don't believe poeple in Cameroon. they are all scammers. I learned my listen in hard way.

I emailed a person that siad they were selling hyacinth macaw

I finally got a call from someone in Camaroon by the name of anthonio Licia wanting me to send money and asking for my address and nearest airport. I felt it was fishy so I decided not anything. I found his adds all over in differnts States and with pictures of the birds and telephone number and even in Canada.

I also have been in contact from a person in Cameroon selling 2 Hyacinth Macaws for R4500 ($650) each. He wants a deposit up front to secure the birds which I have not even seen. He goes bu the name of Walter K

Reply #3 Trish from IL -

I've been talking to someone named Jude Che with email addy the_police_ authority @yahoo.com (without the spaces in there)who claims to have a 12 week old hyacinth for $400 shipping. she said she hates to sell it cuz she promised her mother she wouldn't so is only asking for shipping costs. Keeps insisting i give her my location. She is in cameroon (i know big surprise). I asked for a photo and she sent me a beautiful photo of a fully feathered hyacinth. I told her it was a scam because no hyacinth is that fully feathered or even weaned at 12 weeks to which she apologized for sending me a "bad" picture. Just wanted to post so that people wouldn't get taken by her as well.

this girls responded to an add that i posted looking for a small house dog saying that they had a small yorkie and that i would only cost me 350.00 which was the cost of the shipping and the adoption fees. the insisted on me giving them my full name and closest airport. I got suspicious and googled her name and this came up and suprise suprise she lives in cameroon. Some sick ppl

i, also, placed an ad looking for a small dog. i got a reply from a guy from cameroon, his name on his e-mail is harley twingy. he told me to send $300. for shipping of a bulldog pup. i knew right away it was a scam, so asked a bit more, asked who i send the money to, he then said his name was che jude. he wanted to know my full name and closest airport. i googled the first name he gave me and it took me to other ads where he was selling other dogs, and different addresses, including one in los angeles. then i googled che jude and it brought me here. go figure!!

I answered an ad that was for 2 French Bulldogs for $200. The email address that replied to me was martinwest01@yahoo.com. He told me he would give me the dogs for free, and all I would have to pay is the shipping charge which was $300. He said he was with the Halifax Catholic Missionaries working in an orphanage in Camaroon. Luckily, I knew something was fishy, so I didn't send any money. I replied to him and started asking questions about the shipping company and that I wouldn't pay anything until I received the dogs. I asked him where he was from in Halifax, and then he got scared with all my wqestions, and told me to forget the whole thing because I didn't trust him! What a scam.

harleytwingy1@yahoo.com is the e-mail address to a person who is telling people he has a dog that you are looking for. I posted an ad Looking for a Gloden Retriever Puppy. He soon replies telling you we have one, then the next email he sends pictures. Then it just so happens that he needs your address and closest airport so he can send it to you. I didnt get as far as him telling me to wire him money as I searched him on the internet and found stories of people who did or just about. He did give me a phone number to contact him with 237-9904-5873 I believe it is in Cameroon, Africa.

Focusing on the email addresses will get you scammed. They can create a new one in 15 seconds or so.

Pay attention to what they do and avoid them regardless of the name or email address they use.

Well, I saw an ad on petfinder.com classifieds advertising 3 baby macaws for adoption. The guy asked for $600 wich would cover the shipping charges. He said that he was from NC, which I am as well. He asked me for my name and address as well along with the name of the nearest airport to me. He said that now he is in texas at the time. I was thinking about arranging an actual meeting to pick up the birds, but he came up with another option which sounded good. I received an email from him saying that he had dropped off the birds at the airport and the received an email from the airline. The problem is, the airline that emailed me was swissair. I googled it, as I had never heard of it and found that swissair went bankrupt about 10 years ago. Along in the email from "swissair" it asked me to send the $600 via moneygram to Cameroon in Africa. That is when I knew it was a scam. I figured if it was for real, that the airline would call me and ask for at least credit card information which could at least be tracked. Well at least I didnt lose any money over this, just very disappointed as I thought I was about to get a great bird for a cheap price. No way am I blaming petfinder.com, but I will be on my toes next time. By the way, the person that placed the ad went by the name of Adam Graf and email is adamgraf28@yahoo.com.

I get lots of spam emails from people asking to place classified ads in my "newspaper".

If you want a pet you should really see it in person to make sure the personalility, health, etc fits your needs.

I've been talking to a person who claims they are in alabama and are donating the money to an orphange, $400 free shipping for a 2 year old black palm cockatoo. birds arent really my thing I'm more of a snake guy but I'm more than fimilliar with the camaroon scam, happens a lot in the snake business, I asked if I could pick the bird up and they were really pushing for shipping, finally they agreed to me coming there, I asked if I gave them some very reputable (in the snake world) references and I'll send payment when the bird got here and they did not want to do that, I'm in kentucky and I really dont want to drive to alabama for nothing....although I did ask if my father in law could pick it up as he is in georgia....but no response yet...her name is katie houghton, anyone done business/ been scammed by this name before?

thanks,

Levi

p.s. please direct all responses to my emaile levi987@hotmail.com as I dont regular this site.

Reply #16 Bubba from deep in your mind -

Did you look at the originating IP address in the email headers? That can be faked... but if it is from Africa you know they are not in Alabama...

That aside... why you think someone in Alabama would have they would use the same sales pitch as the Cameeroonies?

I was almost scammed from a person in cameroon saying his name is Dave Martin and he wants his purebreed yorkshire puppies named jerry, indy and shammy to be given a home as he cannot take care of them. Since this is my first timeto transact in the internet. I still tried to be nice to him after figuring out it is a scam. Reading this bullettins about scammers made me aware of a near mishap. I gave him information on my address, even pictures of my kids and my cell no. thinking all along that he was concerned on the home that his pet is going into. However, after reading your bullettin about scammers, I told him I was baking out of the transaction. NOw he is forcing me to buy at least one of his pups. Funny thing though, I had a hard time understanding his english when I rung up his no. but his written english is good. I told him if really wants to give the pets a good home then shipped it to me and I will pay him COD. For anyboy reading this here are some of the excerpts from his mail:

Thanks for the mail. All puppies come with a writtenhealth guarantee, Champion Blood Lines, crate trainedand we even begin Paper Training prior to leavingfor their new home. They are AKC reg, vet checked withhealth records that will be faxed directly from ourvet, they are current on all shots and wormings.Theylove to cuddle and get into things especially whenthey are indoors. They are all 12 weeks old now andvery affectionate, also they have very good healthconditions and temperament, presently weigh 3-4 poundsand will be 5-6 pounds when fully grown, they are verytiny pups that you can hold in your arms and go anywhere you want to.I was wondering where you arelocated?.Our greatest wish is that these puppiesshould be taken good care of and be showered with loveand affection. They are very lovely with kids and otherhouse hold pets and will love to make any new homespoil rotten.Do you have kids or other pets?, sorry just curious. They do come with a crate, all playingtoys and a puppy care package to start with.Ouradoption price for one pup is $125 and shippingis $155 but if you are to take two pups the total priceis going to be $560 including shipping, all playingtoys, health guarantee and a puppy care package tostart with. Attached to the mail are their recent pictures, hope they arecute, there are three puppies, two females and a male, make a choice and get back to us with the one you aregoing to take. Hi Michelle, thanks for the address, i am going to go directly to the airport to arrange all the flight papers for Jerry and Cindy, i am sure these are the two puppies you are going to take cos the your address will be clipped on the crate they will be coming with for proper identification of you before you get them at the airport. No problem if you don't have enough space, they will quite ok as they have always lived and raised as in door dogs since we do not also have enough space in our compound. But i will always like you to take a ride with them in your car, they tiny and can go any where with you.Since you haven't told your husband that you are to buy any puppies, its going to be a big surprise for him and also your kids.I am going to call you and if you are not the one to answer i will do exactly as you said ok.I am going to book for the Flight today so that i can get them transported to you Thursday. From the airport they will be delivered directly to house following the address you have provided.Ok i am going to send you a copy of their vaccination certificate to show that they have been vaccinated from infected diseases and also i will be sending you a copy of my cities permit to show that i am permitted to transport the puppies to you.So as said above, i am going to book for their flight today and when you send the money i confirm it and get back to you with the flight information so that you can no exactly when to be at home to receive Jerry and Cindy. As for the payment, you can send it through western union money transfer or money gram, it will all depends on which one you are going to prefer, so below is the address you are going to use in making the payment

Mbah Valentine

345 Boulevard Ave,

Wouri bay, Apt#78

mancho street, Victoria

Cameroon, Zip code 00237

Cell:00237 9939 2688.

You may use this as test question and answer when sending the money

Test question:Who are you expecting

Test answer : Cindy and Jerry.

Hi Michelle, i understand your concern and as i earlier said, i am going to send you their vaccination papers and the cities permit cos thats what you will need to present when receiving the pup at your house.I am going to let the airline deliver them right to your home other wise i would have asked for the address of your nearest airport.I really want you welcome them back at home, besides not going through all the stress to pick them up at the airport since it is your first time of doing this right?.Mbah Valentine is my secretory, since i will be always busy at the airport, he will be the one to go pick up the money. No you wouldn't have to pay any thing once the puppies will be delivered to your home thats why i need just $150 cos that will be enough to settle all airport charges and pay for the crate and flight fee since we are registered with the airline.Michelle, i know you are little bit skeptical but you know what i just want to surprise you and your family with these wonderful babies.

Michelle, i just finished with the flight arrangements, so i have book for a flight with AIR FRANCE today and can only confirm the flight and get back to you with the flight information when the flight is being paid, so you will only send the $150 as i said and complete it when you get them.I know its hard to trust but you are not going to believe it until it happens, so as i said your full address is already taken by the transportation department and will be attached on their crate as soon we pay for the air ticket.

I wish i could have the possibilities of sending them first and paying for every thing but as i told you before, i will need to pay for their crate fee, buy some playing toys and a puppy package to start which is very necessary for them, and lastly pay for their flight, so you don't need to worry that much cos i will take care of every thing and will be giving you a call as soon as they get to the airport so that you can prepare on what time to be at home to receive them ok.

As for the vaccination papers, i just called my vet so he has faxed it to me and i will be sending it alongside with the cities permit to show you before you send the money ok.Waiting to hear from you soon.

And this is what he wrote after I told him I was backing out....

Hello Michelle, after all the preparations and every thing i have done you just telling me that you are not going to take the puppies again. What do you thing i will go from here, i been spending so much money driving and going to the airport, just got a vet record from my vet and cities permit and that took me some money, after all the time wasted, at least you take one puppy either Cindy or Jerry. As we spoke on the phone, i just booked for the flight and was waiting that you pay the money and get back to me with the flight information as you said.

To really show you that i will be delivering these puppies to you, you go ahead and make the payment and change the test question and answer and upon arrival of them before you give them to me so that i will be able to pick up the money. When you pay the money, get back with the MTCN number so that i can be sure you made the payment but will not be able to have it until you receive your puppies. You can still have the and sell them to another person out there in Philippines. Waiting to hear from you soon or you give me a call, the lines are not really clear as i also find it difficult to understand you.

Hope anyone who is reading this can learn from this.

this is in addition to the earlier post I did, In fairness to Mr.Martin at the end of the day he did not push me to buy the puppies as he understood that I had read a lot of people being scammed from their area. Also he has sent me certificates from his vet and city permit to eport his pups, but I cannot guarantee that its; genuine as I know not how to verify it. Maybe he is a good guy maybe he is not. Its for you guys reading it to decide.

A guy going by the name of Peter Jones contacted me saying he's in Cameroon as part of a Peace Cor thing.

Said he had 2 blue and gold macaws that needed a new home.

I've been going along with it now.

When asked to pay shipping, I told him I couldn't.

So he said he came up with it.

Now he's got a few email address going pretending to be him, some Kero Pets Move company, AND Air France.

Right now, "the birds" are at Air France in Paris.

Telling me I should get some export permit otherwise the birds will be destroyed and he just happened to go out of town.

I'll go along with whatever, except paying. :P

Moving in a bit anyway my address is no big deal for him to have. :P

Will have to see how it turns out. XD

I saw the ad about the free Hyacinths as well. He responded last night claiming that they had their papers and were tame, etc. etc. He also asked for information from me regarding airports etc., but hasn't asked for any shipping costs yet. Below is what I responded with:

I would be interested, but this sounds too good to be true. If it was genuine, I would be very interested, but my guess is that you are going to ask for shipping costs through western union or some other money transfer place. Once I send the funds, I won’t receive the birds because they probably don’t exist. I would be interested in sending shipping costs if I was able to receive the birds in Canada first. Once my vet checked them out and they were healthy, I would be delighted to send any shipping costs that I’m sure you will be asking for. Of course, I’m not even sure that my Canadian government would even allow them into the country. I would have to check that out first.

Please forgive me if I am wrong about you and you are genuinely an American who doesn’t have time to take care of your birds anymore. If not, remember that what goes around, comes around and bad things will happen to you for every person that you have stolen from. If you are a thief; you are scum!

If you are actually genuine, can you send me pictures of the birds? Not just any pictures. I want a picture of you holding one of your hyacinths in your hands. Your right hand holding on to the bird’s feet with your left hand holding out the parrots left wing. If you can do that, it will prove their existence and how tame they are. If you can’t do that, then I know you are a thief and that just proves it.

Greg

I saw a few ads on Craigslist and on Lespac...giving away all kinds of dogs and birds. Come on!Do you really believe people are giving away FREE purebreds...really! Another thing, I do try out for contests from big companies, and then I DO get all these letters which advise me of HOW I have become sooo rich because, I've inherited monies(I am a Multi Trillionnaire...)all I must do is open and send information on a bank account...SIGH. Now why do some people get scammed??

I was scammed with the same stories from a so called " Rev Hardeson" from Cameroon who is on a "mission" And was selling his english bulldog puppy. one thing after another he needed more money b/c of problems at the airport. its is a LIE there is no such department in either the france airport or the cameroon asking for $400 insurance money. refundable or not!

beware. his email is "Jesssica Brown" "Weluvyou01@yahoo.com"

ok, evryone what i have found from catching scammers for " selling baby monkeys " if they dont ask you a million questions ok where he pet will be housed, how you will treat the pet or if it will be bred it is most likely a scam or a bad pet. If the person asks for your adress right away its prob a scam or they say " there a person from god " or " there taking a trip into the UK or cameroon " please stay away! I have been catching these scammers by me asking where to send the money to, i then do not give them my adress and i contact an agency from cameroon or where there located and tell them this man/woman tried to scam me THEY WILL DO SOMETHNING ABOUT IT! trust me!! i have already put multi-pule people through serches from the poliece ( serching there computer and checking there home ) and they almost always get cought.

please if they show nearly no interust in the animal there selling the animal is ither mean or not even egsistant. Also... only getting there e-mail will not catch them try to get there adress and report them.

thanks for reading

I got scammed by a Cyrel Ngwa in Cameroon and a Andria Starkweather in Indiana. I'm embarassed to say how much they got me for but it was a very nice amount. I knew something was up but I didn't go with my gut feeling and now I'm out of a lot of money. I'm still trying to find any and everywhere I can put there names out if anyone knows of any other websites were I can post their information please let me know.

Thanks

Letter people know HOW you were scammed is important. That will help save other people.

The names, emails, etc can change in the 2 minutes it takes to make a new email address on hotmail or yahoo.

The amount they got from you isn't as important as how they gained your confidence, what they were "selling", etc. Help others learn from your mistakes, and then your embarrassment and loss won't be for nothing.

Why do people in Cameron do such a thing? Thank you guys so much. I was about to send $410 to this person in Cameron cause i want the parrot so much. The person i was talking to is Tania Marrero, her email is avos@gawab.com She is from Cameron also. :-(

Reply #40 Bubba from deep in your mind - Sat Mar 29 01:28:18 2008

I suppose it is a number of factors, including the fact that "we" keep sending them money! They obviously don't perceive a great risk of being caught and the alternative jobs and wages are slim to none.

None of that makes it right, of course.

i was about to make a terrible mistake i am so happy that i googled this Kelly "Asuh"'s name before i sent him or her 520 dollars for the shipping of two African Greys!!!!!! I told him off as soon as i read about him in stories mentioned above. He used the same description to describe the Greys as he did with Amy Bishop!

I tried to verify the where they said they were from in Texas but it didnt exhist. They said they worked for an orphanidge in Austin Tx, but were doing work in africa for AIDS, etc.

Anyway, its obvioulsy a scam.

My daughter is in contact with someone about 2 African Grey's. She is very excited about this. I am doing research because the "person" said they live in Cameroon. I have just read these entries from people who have been scammed. I am thinking this is a lie as well. They have just asked for money and address, airport, etc... What do you think?

Here is the first e mail she received:

--BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE--

Thanks for mailing about my Congo Greys Rebecca, They are of the

opposit sex , both of them are 3 years old and have reproduced

just once. I have moved out of home for studies and don't have the

time to dedicate to them that i used to. They are very tame,

handfed and prefers kids and women until you can take them out of

the cage and walk with and if you need pictures i will send good

pics to you , They love to be scratched and talked to. Very healthy

birds and in good feathers. I am offering them at $400 or best

offer. They have all their health certificate from the vet and i

guarantee that there are no symptoms of disease or parasites in

them and that my greys are completely healthy.

They are tested and confirmed free of viral infections,

pathogenic bacterial infections, fungal infections, and congenital

defects since i have been keeping them as pets and i am willing to

refund the money paid for them if you find any congenital defect

which was present prior to their being sold to you .There is no

better guarantee we can give to you Rebecca! I do bacterial

cultures in our home on each of these birds and i am going to

culture them prior to shipment. Please ask me for details regarding

our Gresy if there is something you do not understand and i will

help you out. I do not take my birds to public exhibitions nor to

bird marts therefore they are not exposed to diseases from other

facilities.

I am serious about the health of my birds and thats why i do

everything possible to provide proper nutrition and veterinary

supervision to ensure that any body who comes to buy them will

receive the healthiest Congo grey pair possible from me.So if you

have always been looking to get these birds then now is the time fo

ryou to get them.

Thanks Dr Marshalls.

I posted an ad on a website, for a pug. A guy with the email address: adam_grooves@uymail.com. replied saying he had a pug puppy called PINK for adoption, he sent some pictures. I sent him en email back asking where he was. He didn't answer my question but he asked me for my full name, address and phone number. I was a bit fishy, but gave him my mobile number and my suburb. He gave me a number to call him on, I tried it and it didn't work, I then decided to google the number and I found this website. I am so glad I did. Lucky I didn't let it get any further. Look out for people like this, I don't know how they can do it, it is jst so wrong.

Became of the scam.. not the emails... it takes all of 30 seconds to get a new email address.

There are no animals coming from Africa. Be safe, don't buy a pet unless you physically take it home with you.

Don't use Western Union, Money Gram, etc to pay for something as there is no way you get can a refund if you don't get the merchandise.

He almost got me until I started googling his name and cameroon, but my e-mail contains a phone number:

Hello,

Thanks for the interest in giving this lovely puppy a loving and caring home.Rambo is a sweet heart baby boy!. You will be sooo happy with him!!.He will be coming along side with all his health papers and a travel crate and some toys and food menu. Also you will have to promise me that you are going to spoil the puppy rotten with love. He is wonderful for the person lacking space, to the person needing help in the house. wonderful with children, the puppy was raised in a home environment and is exposed to children and other house hold pets.He is AKC registered, dewormed and current on all shots.

I'm a priest from Canada and I'm now in Cameroon for starch which will be for 9 months so my reason for giving him out for adoption is because of my condition now and also because the climatic condition of Cameroon is very harsh and does not favor the little puppy so all i will be asking from you for her is $150 which will serve as his transport fee to the US.So do get back to me with your full home address and nearest airport to your location because the airliner will deliver the puppy right to your door step. You can contact me via 00237-75181116

Waiting to read from you

God Bless you

My wife and I were looking in a directory for dogs and puppies for sale and we found an add for adoption fee $120.00 a 10 week old English Bulldog pup. She had an email address listed to contact her "rawland52@gmail.com". Excited that we may have found a really good deal we emailed her right away that we were interested and would like more info. She replied the next day with the following email;

Thanks for your mail regarding the puppy, she is still available to any one prepared to provide her with enough care and love, where she will be well spoil with all her need.she 10 weeks old and has very good temperament with kids and other pets, very playful love to play around with toys and kids, she is health guaranteed and registered, vet checked.she is up to date on all her shots and will be coming along side her health papers and vet records.she is called roy hope you will like her and take very good care of her, the reason why we are giving her out for adoption is we are presently in Cameroon for environmental studies and work is too much for us and it gives us no time to take care of her, so we decide to give her out to a family where she will be well taken care of and treated like a daughter.and since you are interested in adopting her, we are willing to give to you but you have to first assure us that you will take good care of her and that you will send her pics to us monthly so that we can see how she is doing in her new home. .please may we ask you some few questions?

do you have other pets?

where do you live?

how soon do you want her?

are you sure that you will really take good care of her?

we will be waiting for your mail asap

Thank

This sounded very convincing to us so we repled to answer her questions tellin her the city we live in (no exact address), our phone number and my email address which has my full name in it. We assured in datial how we would be more than able to care for her and would like to see her first before taking her. I was under the impression that the dog was being cared for in Tampa because that what was listed. The Kelly sent the next following email;

hi i am presently with the dog in Cameroon so all you will need to do is pay for her flight fee over to you which is 180usd.if this is ok by you then get back to me asap

This email sent a red flag up and I then felt very foolish for giving her so much information. Giving a benifit of a doubt I replied to her that we could wait for them to return from Cameroon. If they couldnt wait then to send her here and we would be more than willing to reimburse for any shipping fees. I have not yet heard a reply but really not expecting one now. Out of curiosity I just Googled her name and all this came up which all sounds very familiar. I am now worried that I have givin them way too much information. Does anyone know if these people have been able to steal identities based on full name, email addresses and phone numbers? Would going to the Sheriff's office do any good, since the add was based in this county?

Reply #52 Bubba from deep in your mind - Sat Jun 7 03:49:39 2008

I think they are into the quick money vs stealing identities... as they are in Africa it may be less useful for them to be impersonating you over there... than an id thief in the USA.

What I think WILL HAPPEN is that they will spread your email address around the scammers... so just make sure you IGNORE all emails you get about winning something, stuff for sale, offers for stuff you have for sale, etc.

You might even get emails from those who will offer to help you recover money you lost in the scams... which is of course a scam too!

HEAR FROM THE HORSES MOUTH, ALL...IT IS LIKE A GAME TO THEM, STEALING MONEY FROM FOREIGNERS IN THE NAME OF PETS AND TARNISHING THEIR COUNTRIES REPUTATION AROUND THE WORLD. I do understand what you have experienced. Giving money without having what you have given the money for is disappointing but it doesn't mean the whole Cameroon is spoiled. You will find thieves everywhere in the world you just have to be very careful when somebody comes to you with a business proposal. You should first browse over the Internet to know about cameroon business plolicy as far as pets and adopting children are concerned. It is not as easy as people will present to you over the Internet. What use to happen is that many people do not use the right way to buy something. They think using informal ways is cheaper than the formal ways. Please next make sure you use the normal way to buy whatever you want from Cameroon.

All Cameroonian are not untrustfull.
