My wife and I were looking in a directory for dogs and puppies for sale and we found an add for adoption fee $120.00 a 10 week old English Bulldog pup. She had an email address listed to contact her "rawland52@gmail.com". Excited that we may have found a really good deal we emailed her right away that we were interested and would like more info. She replied the next day with the following email;

Thanks for your mail regarding the puppy, she is still available to any one prepared to provide her with enough care and love, where she will be well spoil with all her need.she 10 weeks old and has very good temperament with kids and other pets, very playful love to play around with toys and kids, she is health guaranteed and registered, vet checked.she is up to date on all her shots and will be coming along side her health papers and vet records.she is called roy hope you will like her and take very good care of her, the reason why we are giving her out for adoption is we are presently in Cameroon for environmental studies and work is too much for us and it gives us no time to take care of her, so we decide to give her out to a family where she will be well taken care of and treated like a daughter.and since you are interested in adopting her, we are willing to give to you but you have to first assure us that you will take good care of her and that you will send her pics to us monthly so that we can see how she is doing in her new home. .please may we ask you some few questions?

This sounded very convincing to us so we repled to answer her questions tellin her the city we live in (no exact address), our phone number and my email address which has my full name in it. We assured in datial how we would be more than able to care for her and would like to see her first before taking her. I was under the impression that the dog was being cared for in Tampa because that what was listed. The Kelly sent the next following email;

hi i am presently with the dog in Cameroon so all you will need to do is pay for her flight fee over to you which is 180usd.if this is ok by you then get back to me asap

This email sent a red flag up and I then felt very foolish for giving her so much information. Giving a benifit of a doubt I replied to her that we could wait for them to return from Cameroon. If they couldnt wait then to send her here and we would be more than willing to reimburse for any shipping fees. I have not yet heard a reply but really not expecting one now. Out of curiosity I just Googled her name and all this came up which all sounds very familiar. I am now worried that I have givin them way too much information. Does anyone know if these people have been able to steal identities based on full name, email addresses and phone numbers? Would going to the Sheriff's office do any good, since the add was based in this county?

I think they are into the quick money vs stealing identities... as they are in Africa it may be less useful for them to be impersonating you over there... than an id thief in the USA.

What I think WILL HAPPEN is that they will spread your email address around the scammers... so just make sure you IGNORE all emails you get about winning something, stuff for sale, offers for stuff you have for sale, etc.

You might even get emails from those who will offer to help you recover money you lost in the scams... which is of course a scam too!

I do understand what you have experienced. Giving money without having what you have given the money for is disappointing but it doesn't mean the whole Cameroon is spoiled. You will find thieves everywhere in the world you just have to be very careful when somebody comes to you with a business proposal. You should first browse over the Internet to know about cameroon business plolicy as far as pets and adopting children are concerned. It is not as easy as people will present to you over the Internet. What use to happen is that many people do not use the right way to buy something. They think using informal ways is cheaper than the formal ways. Please next make sure you use the normal way to buy whatever you want from Cameroon.

All Cameroonian are not untrustfull.

oh my, i have just found this web site and i have just finishe sending emails to a PEREZ GABSIA at petskingdom@yahoo.com. he has been going under the name of jean paul and says he lives im plymouth. i have been wanting to get a beagle puppy and he was wanting £400 for 1 i was being so nieve as he told me in detail of what each puppy was like and what puppy would best suit me. i was sending money via western union to him just hours ago and i have been told there is a secrity check on it and i was to get info on him of, date of birth, where he was born, what id he has and what his passport number is etc. when i told him the money was being held by the western union till the secerity checks were done he said there was no such thing as security checks in western union and is trying at the moment for me to send him money via money gram. LIER LIER LIER. im soo angry. i hav spoken to western union and i am getting my refund. im soo glad iv found this web sit and there is soo many people like me who has been ar almost scamed by him. grr grr. oh i have his fone number too!!

My family has been looking for a puppy and posted an ad on Kijiji. I was responded to by a twingyharley@yahoo.ca telling me he had a puppy and I would have to pay $350 to have him ship her by plane to me. He said he was from Monreal and I had to give him my full name as well as the nearest airport. I recognized this as a scam since 2 days earlier I had the same message from some lady pretending to be a christian volunteering in Nigeria and wanted the same thing some money and then they send the dog. I told this twingyharley@yahoo.ca that my in laws would be in Montreal and could pick up the puppy and for him to give ME his address and phone number. He stated he was too busy to do that and the dog would have to be sent to my home by plane. This is a total SCAM and i'm glad I didnt fall for it!

I am a Greatgrandmother who was scammed. I cannot afford the two payments I paid out for 2 Greys. Posted ad for African Grey was contacted by Prince Micheal@yahoo.com Paid out 180 the first time than 720 the second time. Was told 705 was refundable. Am not good with the computer. After sending money which I can't afford borrowed from PayDay Loan have heard nothing further. Is there any way to recoup? Am on very limited imcome now am out the money and the companionship of the bird I so badly wanted. Felt blessed to be getting two instead of the one I wanted. Can't hardly afford bills and now can't afford much of anything. After being contacted by Prince Micheal was contacted by Pet Cargo Pets Delivery Agency who asked for the 180 Director: Lessly Angelburgh N. General Manager Henry Clevy N. Secretary Mrs. Rose Mary Second contact VPI Pet Insurance (which is a valid pet insurer whom I have a dog insured with.)because you have to insure birds to ship. sent 720 for that. No word since. Us oldsters me especially have no idea until we loss money and have someone else show us a website like this what we are getting into. I am almost completely computer stupid. And now I even feel stupider.

Hi there

I was looking for a parrot and was emailed by Johnson Williams He was selling macaws and palm cockatoos very cheaply out of Cameroon. I was very suspicious at this point as I know that Palm Cockatoos are very expensive. He then said that once I chose which bird I wanted and how many, then he would need details like name address, nearest airport so he could organise transportation and all the relevant documents.

We exchanged several emails as I questioned him on many aspects and the fact about the legality of this to which he responded that "the police would sign all the papers"!!

The last email, I informed him that I had read all about bird scams from the Cameroon and that I too had found his same name being associated with a scam....I have heard nothing back.

Please be aware of all of this and as other people have said, "if it sounds too good to be true then it is"! Be safe- buy birds/animals from your own country where you can see them, know their history and know who the breeder is!

i was scammed with the sale of two Hyacinth Macaws. i was told to pay shipping of $200. i figured it was a scam, but decided to go ahead with it anyway. however i only sent $150 and agreed upon the rest upon delivery of the birds. i was told they would be using the FRENCH PET DELIVERY SERVICE, also part of the scam. when they asked for $800 for life insurance on the birds, i cut my losses. forget sending any money to Cameroon. i went against warnings and my better judgement. BUT IT IS DEF A SCAM

Recently our Foundation employee received a lucrative Job offer from a Nigerian Public School in response to the resume he has posted in popular Jobs portal.

To start with unsuspectingly he started answering the mails by providing with the documents they were asking till he got a strange demand to deposit 1500UK Pounds into some Nigerian Bank account to cover his Visa /Work permit fees and attorneys’’ cost. Having lived earlier in Ethiopia and being aware of natty gritty of Work Permit he became suspicious and referred the entire correspondence to the Board of the School. As he expected the whole set of mails turned out to be fake.

Please publish this letter for the benefit of young readers of your web pages to be weary of lucrative offers and seemingly genuine work permits from Nigeria.

well i have been looking for a capuchin monkey on the net and i came across this seller.she said shes from camaroon. and told me she sells the capuchin for 300 us dollar and everthing she would include in the package like the dresses of the monkey and the feedign bottled and stuffs. i inquired in her 2 different ads. in one of my letter to her, i got really personal that she said she was moved by my story and she even decided to give the pet free. but she just need a shipping payment that cost 400 us dollars. and so i search on the net about the camaroon country and soem shipping procedures and even the prices of some ads of a capuchin.and i was really shocked that if i were to buy a capuchin, it would cost something not lower than 1000 us dollar. atleast thats waht i remember.and the price she gave me was way way lower as if giving it as a bargain.and now i saw this precautionary site that says about being scammed. she already gave me the adress of the where i supposed to be sendign the money and idont know really what my next step should be. waht do you think guys?

I've had this person named 'Ken Grace' trying to give me an african grey for 'adoption' saying they're going on a trip and just want someone to take care of her. It sounded sus from the start. They wont tell me where they're from, but are very insistent on my address. They only want me to 'pay for the airline ticket' I caught them out when they said they'd send it to an airport that doesnt accept animals, especially from overseas.

hi im a teen who has been scammed. i was looking for a small dog to get i found a ad for a girl who said that she had been traveling and that the country that she was in wouldnt allow her to keep her dog there come to find out the place she was in was Cameroon when i first started talking to her i believed her she was telling me how happy she and her daughter were that they had found such a great person like me to buy there dog. It sound to good to be true but i kept talking to her i had my grandfather read the e-mails and asked for his opinion on it he told me that he wanted info on her she told me that she was from Coplay Pa and her name was Kim Berry we searched for her but no one under that name was listed it up sets me cuz i was happy that i had found a dog at least i thought i did these people have no heart she knew how old i was and how excited i was and of course i had to experience what everyone else on this website had to experience. PEOPLE BE AWARE OF THIS STUFF ITS REAL. and im really sorry to the people that sent them money. we found out that the FBI are looking into this and i sent them all my emails from that lady to them. God bless and dont fall for these peoples games.
