Hi,

My girlfriend recently contacted someone saying they were selling parrots in Perth Australia but main officew to send money was in Cameroon. She kept in contact until they said the birds were at the airport but $388 needed to be paid for transfer costs and $800 to hire a cage. She stupidly paid the money and ofcourse, no birds. the email contact was carlossmithxxx@ yahoo.com. After we threatened them by email we were sent a fake email from ccameroonpolice@ gmail.com saying they were investingating it and we should send all receipts to them. The money was paid into Western Union thus pretty untracable. Does anybody have any suggestions for what we could do to try to get the money back or at least find were the people are so we can go beat them to death with a dead parrot :). We do have phone numbers for them in Cameroon.

Thank you everyone on this site for posting. There is currently a post on Craigslist to rehome a hyacinth macaw for $360. I thought she was from California. Her name on the email is Amanda Kimnbely and I almost got scammed!!!! I thought "wow, great" and then something possessed me to look up "shipping parrots from Cameroon" and I found this and many other sites about these scammers!!!! Thank you everyone for posting. This woman's email is babykids.2007@yahoo.com. I can't believe I was almost so stupid. But I'm glad that I didn't fall for it thanks to posts like this one. I told her "no money" and she wrote back, "how much can you afford?" NOTHING. That's right. Nothing for a bird that doesn't exist.

Please be careful about people who advertise from Cameroon.

I was almost scamed to by many peope all one person like Kelly brandy natasha Roswell or rota Kelly also from camaroon but I knew it was a scam for Maltese puppies! Stupid people!!

im pretty sure ive almost been scammed too! email address from them was " normal.days90@gmail.com " the sale was for a teacup yorkie for 100 dollars in St.Louis missouri. only an hour drive from me! when i replied.. i got a small application to fill out.. and then she replied wanting the nearest airport and yadayada. how crazy!! im so glad my friend pointed out this website to me!

I looked around for an African Grey Parrot and came across a nice looking bird for the rare, extremely low price of $300.00. The lady said she was having "issues with family" and she couldn't hold on to the bird. Her name was "Christi Whites". She said that she would pay shipping and all I needed to do was go to a bank and wire her $300.00 and she could ship the bird. I then found out from pet stores about the "Cameroon Bird Scam". I called her a lying, scamming, fag, and stopped replying to her frantic messages and also the ones from pet-air. Oh yeah, and she ended

EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE with "Alright". That was extremely annoying.

So, WATCH OUT!!!

I just replied to 2 ads one for a maltise in the UK and a yorkie is*Cameroon*

i spent a long time writing out a thoughtful email and then i found this site. They both asked for personal information...my question is why would they need my address is they are sending it to a local airport (thats what tipped me off) and after i sent the emails i got an automatic response. Its heartbreaking and cruel! the only info i sent was my name thank goodness....

It seemd to me that all the emails r the same, and so are the email letters & stories. I was emaling a lady about a chihuahua puppy she told me it was free but I had to send her 120? & the dog will be shipped at my door step today!

If the dog is free why do I have to pay 120???

Then later I got a email about a yorkie, and to send both dogs male & female it was gonna be 180, but to just send 1 it was goin to be 80.

Both of these people said they were in cameroon, and thie emails were almost alike.

Most of my emails that these people sent me, are almost alike... they tell me about the pup & its life style, & askes me a lot of questions, example, if I was a breeder, if I will take care of the pup, will I keep in touch and send monthly emails, if I have any kids or other pet & so on.

They also ask me for my address, phone number & pics of me & my animal.

Im glas I looked up Cameroon on google. This is how I found this site. One scammer almost got me I aint gonna lie, I sent that person my address, pics of my pup & I so they would know I was a good pet owner, and my phone number. But I didn't send the cash!!!! I looked up this so called cameroon on google, and what do ya know.... SCAMMERS! What made me look it up was how a lot of the emails I recived were almost all alike, and were all some how in cameroon. Like nancybell is s doctor over there she says, this other lasy was a vet down there...

But now I know to be very careful, and just buy a local pet. Id rather spend 120 over here and get the animal in hand & up frount, then take a chance of getting scamed!

BEWARE OF IPFLIGHTS.... THIS IS A SCAM! THEY ADVERTISED A HORSE TO A FREE HOME AND MY GIRLFRIEND WANTED THIS HORSE. THEY HAD HER GO TO THIS SITE AND PAY DOWN $350.00 AND THEN CALLED HER BACK SAYING THIS WASN'T ENOUGH THE NEEDED MORE MONEY FOR SHOTS AND VET WORK. SO SHE SENT THEM ANOTHER 1, 600 DOLLARS. SHE TOLD THEM THEY WERE NOT GETTING ANY MORE MONEY AND THEY ARE STILL SENDING HER E-MAILS WANTING ANOTHER 1, 300 DOLLARS FROM HER.

PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. IF THE WEBSITE DOES NOT GIVE A PHYSICAL ADDRESS AND THE PHONE NUMBERS ARE NOT IN THIS COUNTRY THEN BEWARE. IF THEY DON'T TAKE YOUR CREDIT CARD IS A GOOD INDICATION THEY ARE FRAUDULENT. THEY KNOW CREDIT CARD COMPANIES WILL CATCH THEM AND THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN GET THE MONEY AND NOT BE TRACED IS BY WESTERN UNION.

Didn't you read the 80+ messages before yours?!?!?!?

Sooner or LATER they WILL ask for MONEY and they WILL STEAL IT!!

They might "ship" the dog and then say there is a problem with papers someplace on the way and need money for that. Don't worry they plan to steal from you and have lots of practice answering questions!

I have been in contact with 2!! breeders from cameroon, they offered the flight for 100$ in a airconditioned crate and papers and all assuring it will be 100% safe. Now they said I pay the agency upon arrival, wats everybody's intake of this? Does it sound legit? I dont understand paying the agency on delievery.

Don't worry... sooner or later you will need to pay for something and probably a lot more than $100... and then you will never get anything!

Remember these people have thousands of suckers to practice their scams on to figure out what is an effective technique of stealing from them.

I went on petfinder to look for a german shepherd puppy.I found on located in the next town over so I emailed him. Mcleod@yahoo.com. I told him I lived in the next town over and that I was intested he then told me that he moved to california oakland because he works for an oil company. I believed stupidly. He then said to came visit the puppy. I said I couldn't and he said that he would arrage a shippement. It cost 300 $ . I told him I would pay half until I receive the pupy. He agreed. Then a " shipping agency emailed me gtelling me to pay by western union. I went and payed 150 to camerroon to a guy with the last name of nche. Told me it was a 430 hour flight and it would b delievered to my door. 2 hours past I got an email saying I needed a city permit. Costs 290$ I thengot very suspecious ! There were signs all around me ( my momknew it was a scam but I couldn't believe it.) I then searched pet scams all theses people warning others that it was a scammer from cameroon. I wish I lessoned to my mother ! I lost 150$ and couldn't get the money back bescause he had take the money out alrready.

I had this experience with several people. I constantly believed these people up until now. This lady named Natasha and a man named James kept emailing me, and they were asking for 90 dollars, and I asked why was it so cheap, if they were coming from Cameroon! So, I told him I didn't believe him and I didn't want to do the transaction and he kept writing asking why did I want to do that to the puppies, but they all say the same thing, asking do I have kids, am I married, then they ask for my information, so now I know all of it is bull! So if I do buy offline, it will be from a certified breeder from the US!
