I and my partner are just back from a pre deployment look see. We have a 3 year old. Child care seems to be readily available on a part time basis from home help agencies; charge is CI$10 an hour. I am told that a live in nanny can be arranged through the same sources, but am not sure as to rate. I assume some discount off equivalent full time cost of CI$1600 pcm. Alternatively, with a youngster you can arrange to bring in your own nanny (you will need a work permit for her, and will have to assume all employer responsibilities including medical cover, pension contributions etc reqd by Cayman labour law)- but I am told its is possible to get a work permit if at least one of you is employed. Last, bear in mind you would have to advertise for the position locally and fail to find a Caymanian willing or qualified before u could bring in an expat, but I am led to believe that is usually not a problem.

HiThere are nurseries and day care centres in Grand Cayman. You can put your child in part time or full time. Some are expensive, some not so bad. All have qualified staff. Google!! Good luck with the move, I lived there from 1999 - 2003 and it is lovely place to live.

Jamaican's have the nanny jobs in Cayman. They are inexpensive live in help, and they are reliable and good with the children they care for. Some of them even have drivers licenses and do groceries as well. They are also very good cooks, and can cook a variety of meals for the whole family. No one who can afford a nanny is willing to pay for overseas help when can pluck good help right from your back yard. Jamaica is 150 miles away.
