1, At 14:28 on 12May 2008, 8.0 grade Earthquake took in Wenchuan, Sichuan, China, almost all road blocked then. Till 12:00 of 23May, 2008, the death toll from the devastating earthquake rose to 55, 740, injured people rose to 292, 481, and 24960 people were missing. And the aftershocks maybe take about one month. The aftershocks have not break till now.
2, To ensure the earthquake relief transportation, as well as to protect tourists' body healthy, the needs of epidemic prevention, from the 13May 2008 all tourists (both Chiense and foreigners) are not allowed to Sichuan for touring, this order issued by China National Tourism Administration and Sichuan Tourism Administration.
3, So we are very very sorry that to suggest you to psotpone your trip to Sichuan.
2nd: Pandas in China and Wolong.
About the wild panda, almost about 1590 wild pandas in China, and no dead panda found till now.
And about about 154 captive pandas in Chengdu, Bifengxia and Wolong are all safe: 86 of them in Wolong is safe.
At the time of earthquake, about 34 foreigners (foreign tourists) in Wolong, all of them safe and brought to Chengdu by Heli on both 15May and 16May.
No tourists(both foreigners and Chinese) are allowed enter Sichuan before the end of Wenchuan Earthquake relief event.
Almost all captive panda Enclosures has been destroyed. and 2 captive pandas missing from the Enclosure.
3rd: Chengdu Situation.
In general, no building destoyed in Chengdu downtown, but destoyed took in Chengdu suburb, as well as much death took in Chengdu suburb (western suberb area close to mountains).
And in Chengdu almost all people in earthquake relief activity and do donation. And many people set up tent out of house for nights due to aftershocks.
