NEED INFORMATION ABOUT RETIREMENT IN COLOMBIA. I am a US citizen born in Colombia who would like to go back and retire in the land of my birth.(Medellin) I have a lot to contribute to the counry: KNOW-HOW as an Investment Banker and Money Mgr. in Wall Street. I have a lot to teach in financial and investment matters. CAPITAL to start businesses and create jobs. Could you please help me with the following?: 1- Where can I find information about what incentives Colombia has to offer to an immigrant like me? and, 2- What help and support can the US Embassy provide to a US citizen who wants to settle in Colombia?. 3- Is there a web site or publication where I can find the information I need?. Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated. Regards, John Nelson Moreno

If you were born there can you not claim citizenship in Colombia (and have dual citizenship)?I don't think the US Embassy will offer you much if any assistance, though if you go to the US Counsel in Barranquilla you probably won't have to wait in line long to talk to someone.

I'm pretty sure you have a dual citizenship, but as far as help from the U.S embassy, you're on your own. It's ok though, people here are very friendly, and whatever help you need, you'll find. If you need anything let me know, I just got back from the U.S. after 8 years and it took me a while to get used to everything, but trust me, there's no other place like this. Good luck.

Don't expect much help from either government, you are on your own, like everybody else. doing business is easy.
