Karen Brennan (81.135.188.71) -

My son is 15. He is in school in the UK. My husband is American, living in the UK with us and we plan to move to America with him between 1 and 3 years. I have two questions:

Is it better for my son to move at 16 and be in high school for two years before going on to US college?

If he stays on in the UK and finishes school at 16 and goes to college until he is 18, (where he will finish with 3 or 4 A levels), will he be at a disadvantage for then getting into a US college at 18?

I am not sure whether a US college will recognise his A level qualifications, and what kind of grade those A levels might need to be. Of course being in a high school in US between 16 - 18 would then make a seamless transition to college but I would like to know whether it makes all or no difference.

If anyone knows an answer to this I would very much like to hear from them.

Thank you!

Karen Brennan
