Are rare books subject to deterrioration because of climate

C. Delaney (66.27.161.25) -

Planning to move to Alcenas. My concern is whether my collection of rare books would be safe in the climate there. Also would insects, mildew, mold prohibit safely enjoying the collection in my retirement. I will leave them in the U. S. if advised. I'll appreciate input about maintaining rare books in good condition in Alcenas. Thank you C. Delaney
