Mixed Drinks to request

To anyone that has been to Costa Rica or lives there, what are the best kinds of mixed drinks to try? I have been, but didn't do much drinking while there. I was mostly there on business and stayed busy. I am taking some friends in a couple of months.

Beer and shots straight up seems be the drinks for locals. In the local bars there isn't much in the way mixed drinks.

Tourist photos seem to always have mixed drinks in them. Usually drinks like margaritas and coladas. I went and we had beer most of the time, but many people we were with would order mixed drinks from the hotel bar.
