I had an e-mail discussion with a friend of mine who's considering moving to somewhere in Latin America. He hasn't decided which country, yet. I'm posting some of my replies to his questions, here. Keep in mind though, I'm no expert:

I would like to hear someone's random thoughts about living in the United States.

The key for living in Latin America is to hop on a plane, check it out IN PERSON. Stay in different places for a while (not in a hotel, rent a short term apartment).

Well as an American, I would much rather just visit Costa Rica. I would miss my family first off. Costa Rica is a blast with the great beaches, really cool volcanoes, and everything is cheap.

I would miss American pizza and beer. I would miss our sports and holiday festivities.
