I was just thinking about the best time we ever had in a restaurant in Costa Rica. After waiting about 15 minutes and getting no service (not even a hit that anyone knew we were in the place), my friend picked up her cell phone and called the restaurant. The conversation went kinda like this: "Yes, we'd like to order" "What? Who is this?" "Your customers, we're waiting to order." "No your not, there is nobody here." "Yes, we are we've been waiting for 15 minutes, come and look" "Oh! Geez! Sorry!" Trackbacks

So is that a heads up that the service in some places is slow. Is that because people are so laid back and that is just the lifestyle there? I know in America everything is rush rush rush. So visiting somewhere that is laid back and relaxed would be a nice change of pace next year.

Some places laid back... other lazy. Or it could be a lack of concern for the customer.

Lack of concern for the customer happens everywhere. I am in the United States and we get bad service at restaurants, grocery stores, fast food, etc. It just depends if the person likes their job and cares to give good service.

It is becoming a part of their Culture. If you travel in South America... Colombia, Brazil, Argentina... you'll find a completely different attitude toward customer service.

Why is it becoming a part of their Culture? Is there a specific reason?
