Stop by El Rey Largo in Alajuela Fri or Sat night. You'll find plenty of people to practice your spanish with.
Just hop on the Alajuela Bus from Heredia and tell the driver you want to get off at Pollo Macho (Poyo macho). When you get off the bus walk 1/2 block north (same way the bus is going) and you can't miss it.
