I am booked to have surgery at the Rosenstock clinic in Sept. 08His website says he is certified by the American board of Plastic Surgeons, but they don't list his name when I go to their websites (they have a section for surgeons out of the US) I"m hoping this list is still active and that someone can give me recommendations of the best recovery places, as well as their opinions on the Lieberman-Rosenstock surgery center. Their before/after shots don't impress me much! Also, if you've had surgery already, please let me know if you felt you were 'people friendly' within 2 weeks as I have to go back to work in retail. Thanks!

I had a face lift with Dr. Alfaro at CIMA. He was highly recommended by a friend in Atlanta. My facelift looks great after 2 years BUT I did have some problems. I had (and still have) a deep line between eyebrows which he treated. That did not turn out good at all and now I have scares on both eyebrows where he went in to cut the muscle. Also, I ended up having to have a scar on my neck lasered. After the facelift, my neck hurt worse than anything else. I saw a Plastic Surgeon in the States s year ago who lasered a scar on my neck. He said that during the face lift my skin ripped on my neck. He also asked why it wasnt repaired then because it would have been easy. I had no idea why it wasnt. This same plastic surgeon said that it looked like two different people did my facelift.( I cant see the scars so I dont know) I did ask my friend who referred me to Dr. Alfaro and she indicated that he has an assistant that helps with facelifts and the reason I didnt have much bruising is because they work fast. Dr. Alfaro also left staples in my head which I did not discover until I got back to the States. I finally found a clinic that would remove them. I also mentioned this to my friend and she said another person she knew had the same problem. So I should have made sure he removed all the staples. I have no idea how I could do that since I had no idea how many he put in. So if you use Dr. Alfaro be sure all the staples are removed.

I would like to have lipo on my belly and around my waist, and fat transfer to the face for rejuvenation. Can anyone give me an idea of how much that would cost in Costa Rica? Also, how long does it take to recover from lipo and fat transfer to the face? Thanks. -S

I just got back from having Liposuction in CR. I used the Rosenstock Clinic and my results are what is to be expected but I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism when dealing with patients. My initial post-op didn't go well and I was told that because I'd gained (14 lbs) they were going to have to charge me $4000 compared to the $2500 original price. I was told repeatedly I was too fat for the other estimate. It made me feel really bad, and of course I was completely unprepared for an increase of $1500! In the end, I paid more and they did less - a compromise. My friend went to CR with me but went to Dr Da Cruz - her experience was much better. Or her pre-op visit they talked about the surgery and what to expect and he showed her where the incisions were going to go, etc. All I got was " your too fat, we need more money". Next year when I go back to continue my work, I won't be using the Rosenstock again.

Also, stayed at Las Cumbres and LOVED IT! The people were so nice and helpful. I'll stay there every year I go to get any medical work done!

Don't feel bad... if you hadn't gained any more weight and weren't "too fat"... they might have found some other reason to charge extra. The Culture of Costa Rica seems to include "lack of professionalism" and changing prices in the middle of any and every transaction. "I paid more and they did less" is also normal. I'm not referring to the clinic you went to, or plastic surgery, but everything in Costa Rica. Why not go to Brazil for your plastic surgery?

I am going to the Rosenstock Clinic for the third time for my breast lift... I wish I had saved my money and had it done in the states.. I do not expect it to be all that great but I am getting out the last remaining implant. I did not want implant but was talked into them.. I had my first surgery in Oct 07, Then went back in Feb because the left implant hurt. He worked on bbreats again and five weeks later I was in emergencuy in the states for staph in right one in March. I spent four days in the hospital and still have much destress. I am going back because the left one has done exactly the same thing again, and I think I am just having the other implant taken out.. I will not look as good as I did before the surgery but I'll at least be done with the nightmare. Greg call me if you see this, I'll be at the Ambassador Hotel the 17th...I am staying there because after the fall I had at the La Sabana they refused to take my reservation...

I had plastic surgery at the Rosenstock Lieberman Clinic and have never been treated so poorly. I would like to lodge a complaint and discription of what they did, in a place where it would do the most good, possibly the regulatory agency that regulates them, but also someplace people searching for surgeons would read. Can you suggest some places. Thanks Gary

Didn't you read the U.S. State Department travel warnings for Costa Rica? Didn't you believe them?"The safety regulations enforced in Costa Rica are not the same as safety regulations enforced in the United States." You should encourage them to add a section specifically about cosmetic surgery!

I would like to know how others fared with Dr. Fournier. I had some work done, and was mostly pleased. But removing bump in nose (from fracture) ended up with some migrating cartilage. He did say it would take a year for nose to completely heal, and he would not make adjustments before then (and he would not charge for his time). My face still has periodic numbness (it has been nearly 3 years). He was very personable and attentive.

I used Dr. Macaya and had a terrible experience. I had necrosis in one nipple and lost it altogether after a breast lift/augmentation, had so many stitches pull apart. Terrible scarring from a tummy tuck. He was supposed to do lipo and didn't, although I paid for it. He did not answer any of my calls/emails after I came home with all sorts of complications. I was recovering with open sores for 4 months!!! Do not use Dr. Macaya!!!!!!!!

I recently lost 85 lbs and am now needing to have some work done. Can any one recommend a good doctor or team of doctors. I'd like to have tummy tuck, arms, & legs done. I'm thinking of going to check things out in May. I'm very nervous since I've never had a operation of any kind before. Any help or advise would be very appreciated.

Why not go to Colombia or Brazil for such work?

I had my liposuction with the Rosenstock Lieberman Center 8 years ago. They are wonderful and have their own medical center, makes things less expensive. They have a wonderful reputation and come highly recommended by locals also. I have sent tons of family and friends and all are happy. To find more about them go to; www.healthcostarica.com

I have very positive comments for Dr Adrian Rubinstein. Not only does he speak perfect English, which is a very high priority for me, but he is understanding, knowledgable and an extremely professional and expert eye surgeon.I had cataracts and he successfully operated on them and the pre and post care was much much better than I could have expected anywhere else, including the USA. I believe that he does pretty much all eye surgery including LASIK, retinal surgery etc. He does have a website and works out of CIMA hospital which is San Jose's best private hospital. My recuperation was great too, after all Costa Rica is the last paradise and it was great to really see it. Dr Rubinstein's website is www.eyesurgery.cr. Regards and Thanks John

I saw some of Dr. Macaya's facelifts when I was in Costa Rica and was appalled. I had my facelift done at the Rosenstock Clinic. Thank goodness mine was the best that I saw! Dr. Rosenstock and Dr Cohen both have worked on me as I have had several procedures done at the Rosenstock Clinic. They are great! I have spent a total of 2 months in Costa Rica recuperating and have never met a person that was disappointed in their work! I stayed at Las Cumbres to recuperate and could not recommend it higher. The food, the large staff, and the grounds are wonderful and reasonable. Do not be afraid to go there alone. They watched over me better than family would have. I am now considering a browlift and another procedure or two and will definitely go back to the Rosenstock Clinic and Las Cumbres. And no, I am not an "addict." lol I do not look at all "done." And as for scars...my boyfriend of 3 years has not noticed them! including a tummy tuck and breast reduction scars. I am even in the before and after photos of their site. LOL I only wish that I had not waited so long to do it. 08/25/2009 • Page 1 (Original Post) • Page 2 • Page 3 (Newest Replies) •
