My son, Karl Youngbar, is vacationing on the Nicoya Peninsula. Is there any damage there?

Is the airport in San Jose operational?

The San Jose International airport is definately in operation. I can see the planes landing and taking off while I type this (well, ok the airport isn't that busy, but it is OPEN).

Someone else will have to answer about Nicoya, but I don't think you need to worry.

Our family is getting ready to come to Costa rica, this trip has been planned for 1.5 years, our son is 10 and has a brain tumor. We are coming to find the Blue Morpth Butterfly, our son says it has magical powers. we are arriving december 7th can anyone tell us is it safe to come...Lord knows we don't need any more terror on our plates.
