Why doesn't the Costa Rican government open up the technology markets and let the economy florish?

Enjoy Costa Rica as your exotic vacation spot and leave your work and politics at home.

That is why they call it a 3rd world country.

Are the government planning on changing this at all? Or do they just not care and want to keep it as a mostly tourist place? It would be really nice if things could change for the better for the residents of Costa Rica.

Costa Ricans will have to make an effort if they want changes to occur. Americans just need to enjoy their vacation there. I wouldn't move there as an American. There are many better places to retire if you ask me.

Reply #6 Old Grump from San Jose (Contact Member) -

What are your favored places for retirement? (and why?)
