Any tips and suggestions for the single woman traveling alone in Costa Rica? I have a 3 week trip planned later this year.

I hope to spend a few days in San Jose and then travel the entire perimeter of the country by car.

Ok then. Travel during day time and dont stop to help anyone with flat tires... Try to stay in well known hotels, and possibly in turistic areas, dont't do tours on your own, always hire a tour operator. Travel with some cash, some travellers checks and your credit card. San Jose is the place where occurs more crimes... just because there are more people than anywhere else in Costa Rica. If you would be more specific with the places, I can even tell you where to stay and what to do.
