Myself and my wife have purchased a property in Polis. I want to retire in Cyprus and I am trying to convince my wife to do the same. If anyone can help me with information about normal everyday life in Cyprus plus leisure activities such as golf, bowls, wine clubs etc I would be very grateful. We are coming over to Cyprus in early May and would like to see what Cyprus can offer us in terms of quality of life and making new friends etc. Please help if you can, I would be very grateful!!! Stuart, Please don't buy property in so-called North Cyprus. It's not a legal country - it's part of an EU member state occupied by a hostile military force. I know Kyrenia is beautiful but property there is more often than not built on stolen land and investing there is giving succour to an occupation which has been denounced as illegal by the UN in several resolutions(though a fat lot they did about it). You also run the risk of legal action in the European courts by the rightful title-holder. Apart from anything else, the south (legal republic) is much more Brit-friendly and has a huge ex-pat community. I've lived here for years and I love it. Alex • Page 1 (Original Post) •
