I agree with the danish veg, yes it is a horrible and barbaric ritual which should be stopped, but judging and seeking revenge on Denmark as a nation will not solve anything, how do you think wars are started? May as well destroy all of Canada and stop importing Japanese products (good luck) because of a few idiots. Stop the hate! Better to send your love to the whales and to the misguided youth who have been taught nothing better. Set yourselves free and you will see the world change before your eyes.

It is of small significance that Faroe islands falls under Danish, EU or any other rule. However, it is plain and very clear that laws in any form of human ones, doesn't exist in those lands.I urge concuss moral population of this planet to act, and act swiftly and without hesitation an this matter. We cannot afford to continue like this. It is imperative that life of one concuss being must be immediately equalized with human one. Let the guilty be punished for murder on a first degree for each last of one life they took. THIS MUST END NOW! THIS AND EVERY SIMILAR ACT AROUND THE GLOBE! Millions goes every year for starving people worldwide. Is it so impossible to feed one island??? Or is it just another high profit driven "business"? HABITANTS OF THE PLANET EARTH! RISE AND ACT! ACT NOW!

well, why doesnt the UE stop stupid and cruel traditions such as this and "corridas de toros" in Spain, where people actually pay to see for hours men killing little by little a bull just for enterteinment...they say it is tradition, but killing must not be allowed in the name of tradition, other wise we would still be living in caves and killing each other! Europeans should learn from other cultures who do respect animals, nature, and earth...they called themselves civilized...shame on them!

Today I hurt, I have seen the bloodshed of beautiful Dolphins in the seashores of Norway. I am ashamed to be part of this human race.If some humans will do this to animals in order to prove their manhood, we are doomed for disaster. WAKE UP DO NOT LET THIS CRIME GO ON! We need to work as hard as we can to stop this massacre! Let's start by not buying anything made in Norway or any other country who indulges in these kinds of crime. The earth is OUR HOME. Pat

Thanks you "The Danish vegetarian" for giving me the fuller picture, that's the media for you - creating news that is "sexy", no matter what the truth is.Nonetheless, I think there should be something done in the matter, perhaps find a replacement for the killing, or at least limit the killing. Although I'm pretty sure no one in their goverment cares enough..

How can these people treat one of nature most wonderful sea creatures, dolphins in this cruel and insenstive way. Shame on you..if this is your way of showing how a person enter an adulthood age...well then you are loosers, heartless with no kind of responsibilties. You are teaching your coming generation a ridiculous and pathatic ritual instead of showing them how to take responsibilites of their actions.Im very ashamed to say that im a coutry neighbour with Denmark, plz stop this stupid ritual and save those dophins life. There are others way to celebrate entering adulhood, make a party instead and have fun instead of killing innocent wonderful and smart creatures... Stop this barbarien way of killing

Certainly we all get outraged by acts of cruelty to animals. This butchery in Norway is only one side of the much larger butchery that goes on in the world. In Japan and other places in the world, thousands of dolphins, whales are killed the same way as in the Faroe Island. When receiving information from others, through media or email is good to investigate further in the Web. When I did this I found out that I , (I eat meat, chicken and fish) and You and You are a bunch of hypocrites) with the exception of the true vegetarians that posted the answer here. If we all, in this beautiful planet wants to change barbaric acts like this, we have to go Veggie. We meat eaters are even more harmful than those whales killers (by the way they are Pilot Whale and not Dolphins), because on top of killing a intelligent and beautiful creature, we are contributing to the climate change, because to produce all this cow/pig/chicken meat that we eat, is polluting Earth in many ways. It is not easy stopping eating that delicious stake, specially because we don’t see the cruelty that was done to that animal that we are eating. I can’t say that I will become vegetarian tomorrow, but seeing these whales being slaughtered is making me think really hard on what kind of human I am. For your further investigation go to these web sites: wikipedia.org - Whaling in the Faroe Islands “Proponents of the hunt further argue that the pilot whale lives its whole life in 1. liberty in its natural habitat, the Atlantic Ocean, and then dies in a few minutes, in contrast to many commonly held livestock such as cows, pigs and chickens, the meat from which one finds in most modern supermarkets. These animals often live in captivity or confinement for their whole lives and are then subject to lengthy transportation and other stressful events before their final slaughter. Furthermore, causing an animal unnecessary or excessive pain and discomfort is prohibited by the Faroese law.” AND: wikipedia.org -Dolphin drive hunting “The largest number of dolphins are hunted using this method in Japan, however the practice also occurs in places as far apart as the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific, the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic, and Peru in South America. Dolphins are mostly hunted for their meat; some are captured and end up in dolphinariums“

So we have seen the cruelty. So the questions should be asked.. What should we do to get this barbaric tradition to stop. We are the mayority. Let's get this stupidity to stop. I already signed a petition to the Denmark govt to stop this barbaric act. The petiton is going around the net.

I'm completely Disgusted... Un-Human, and I hope that the people who did this will pay for this, and drown by a huge Tsunami or Typhoon and then burn in hell. Hey Danish Veg, I don't give a F*ck if they were Whales, It's it's un-human, why don't those people try to do that to sharks and see what happens. Cowards!!!!! Your comment " still is a fundamental part of nutrition for people living on these extremely isolated and remote islands made of rocks and with very little possibility for grazing and cultivating of any sort of plantfood." No wonder the population in those islands babies are all deformed. You're comment is a bunch of BS. Take a look at the link footage and pics, people are enjoying themselves killing the innocent creatures, it sure as hell doesn't look like they are doing for food , NICE TRY TO DEFEND YOUR PEOPLE... It's about man hood, not food. Worthless, for this cause I hate you Danish people who participate in these events of killing innocent creatures.

One more thing, People in favor of this who says they do it for nutrition is wrong, look at the footage /pics. They let the poor whales bleed to death slowly while they are having fun! It's like a big event people come from other towns to participate and take part of it. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?MAY GOD' WRATH HAVE REVENGE ON YOU!!!!!!!! TSUNAMI/TYPHOON or A Catastrophic event coming to you soon by mother nature, I would love to see this, and after these people who have remorse may be spared, the rest will burn in INFERNO(HELL).

SoThis is an exemple of why do I Hate Humans!!! Kill them all Poor Dolphins
Reply #45 DIMITRIS ZOLOTAS (89.210.54.231) - 10/01/09 06:31
I can't see any bravery in killing creatures especialy defenceless, if the human wants to be a supreme being, must protect them, not kill them. Changing our food customs from meat to anything else, it's difficult indeed, but it maybe a great evolution step ahead. For these pictures i've seen, what can i say? I'm ashamed than i'm called human.(Sorry for my poor english.)

"This practice must be stopped."
Is there not a better way to show that one is a man? Why not go back to the days of Braveheart and throw big heavy stones, and if they feel the need to inflict pain, why not throw them at each other. Bloodletting of defenceless animals is not what I call manly, it is cowardice for not standing up for what is right and this practice is wrong and should be banned. Man will not go extinct unless by his own stupidity, and poisoned meat is one way to start. At least give other animals a chance to live. These creatures will one day be extinct, what will these people do next, when the whales and dolphins are gone, decide another animal will be the next victims of a massacre that they will call "tradition"?. Try mud or jello wrestling.

"this mass ignorance is amazing!"
I can not believe peoples reaction to this clear smear campaign against Denmark. Try and type the url on the pictures into your browser and see where it takes you!Like #23 said, if you think this has anything to do with Denmark as a nation, you are wrong. You are in fact unknowingly displaying your own narrow minded, one dimensional way of thinking. I actually think Denmark would be better off without you visiting ;) If you really care, try and do some research on where your meat comes from - THAT is animal cruelty. I love eating meat but consuming in a unconscious state, like most of the world do, is what has brought us into this mess in the first place. I'm getting side-tracked but my point is not to just take everything you read for granted. When you read something disturbing, count to ten, spend just a bit of time searching the net and then decide whether it's worth getting all excited over. PS. I think what happens on the Faroe Islands IS very cruel. Try googling "dolfins killed in fishing nets" to see what your love for a nice piece of fish does for these animals...

"...one more thing"
All these people spitting out hate against Denmark reminds me of a dog I once had. I would pretend to throw a stick and hide it behind my back. The dog gets all excited and run in the direction of my throw. Woof!If people spend just as much energy protesting against the industry filling up our fridges - instead of foaming at the mouth about a small group of people living on a remote island - we could actually bring about REAL change. • Page 1 (Original Post) • Page 2 • Page 3 • Page 4 (Newest Replies) •
