The cost of living on Dominica is what you make it! Many people live here with very little money, but others live extravagantly.

Electric costs are incredibly high compared with other places in the world. Parliament just recently made it LEGAL to make your own with solar, etc! Off grid is a good idea here.

Food purchased from local farmers can be 1/3 the cost of going to the Roseau market. I know an expat who struggles on $800 US per month. My living costs are closer to $2000 (which includes a hefty rent).

I am planning to spend a year in Dominica. Can anyone please tell me what rental accomodation are like? What's the cost of a two or three room apartment, what the apartments are like (i.e., toilet, shower, cooking, )? What about crime? And how much is food and houshold expences for a month?

Any info will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
