Greetings, I am a U.S. citizen that loves Dominica and is interested in buying a property on the island.
While I have done what feels to be a lot of reading on the process of buying (as an alien), I'm still unclear as to what the mortgage options are in Dominica for buyers such as myself.
My questions are as follows;
Are there mortgages available from local lenders to off-shore borrowers? If so, can anyone advise me of common terms/requirements?
Is the practice of owner financed properties (either homes or vacant land) common (or allowed) for buyers such as myself?
Just to put it out there... As far as what I'm seeking, I'm open to options in any ocean view area. I'd consider a small "fixer upper" cottage, a home with or without an apartment, a parcel of land that I can hang onto and build on in the future, or possibly even a small business opporunity (would hasten my semi-retirement) :) .
