A soldier engaged in beating up an old lady arrested Radio Televisaun Timor Leste 8 January 2009 - A soldier from the Timorese Defense Force (FDTL) suspected of being engaged in beating up a sixty-year-old lady in Bidau has been arrested by the defence force's military police for investigation purpose.

Parliament condemns F-FDTL soldier engaged in beating up a resident Suara Timor Lorosae 8 January 2009 - MPs in the Parliament have strongly condemned a soldier of the Timorese Defense Force suspected of being engaged in beating up a sixty-year-old-lady recently in the Dili eastern suburb of Bidau.

F-FDTL soldier killed in traffic accident in Lautem Radio Televisaun Timor Leste 8 January 2009 - An F-FDTL soldier was killed in a fatal traffic accident in the area of Lautem district, seven were seriously injured and while other ten sustained minor injuries after the public bus they were on board hit a buffalo in the middle of the road.

Avoid individual power for creating stability in 2009, says Carrascalao Suara Timor Lorosae 8 January 2009 - MP from the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Mario Viegas Carrascalao, said in creating peace and stability within the country in 2009, all political leaders should stop pursuing individual power; otherwise it would damage Timor-Leste's credibility.
