It is a lot of uninhabited french polar islands.
No not exactly uninhabited, there are a lot of birds and some other polar wildlive living. The have no internet and are not interested in your humbug. No wonder the net is becomming a place full of unsavory characters.

I suspect they have satellite receiption and therefore can have internet.Just because the islands are supposedly uninhabited why can't people talk about them? One does not have to be unsavory to have a discussion on such a topic!
From the CIA:
Population:
no indigenous inhabitants
Ile Amsterdam (Ile Amsterdam et Ile Saint-Paul): has no permanent residents but has a meteorological station
Ile Saint-Paul (Ile Amsterdam et Ile Saint-Paul): is uninhabited but is frequently visited by fishermen and has a scientific research cabin for short stays
Iles Crozet: are uninhabited except for 18 to 30 people staffing the Alfred Faure research station on Ile del la Possession
Iles Kerguelen: 50 to 100 scientists are located at the main base at Port-aux-Francais on Grand Terre of Iles Kerguelen
Bassas da India (Iles Eparses): uninhabitable
Europa Island, Glorioso Islands, Juan de Nova Island (Iles Eparses): a small French military garrison and a few meteorologists on each possession; visited by scientists
Tromelin Island (Iles Eparses): uninhabited, except for visits by scientists
So there might be some 130 people on the Islands... all scientists...
The CIA also says that the laws of France apply, so it is not such a wasteland!
The internet country code is .tf so don't be so harsh about internet and the Islands. In 2006 there were 38 internet hosts an amazing number for the population!
The Islands also have 4 airports: one each on Europa Island, Glorioso Islands, Juan de Nova Island, and Tromelin Island in the Iles Eparses district.
There is even economic activity: Economic activity is limited to servicing meteorological, geophysical research stations, military bases and French and other fishing fleets. The fish catches landed on Iles Kerguelen by foreign ships are exported to France and Reunion.
