Your girl friend as in someone you personally know... or your girl friend as someone you met online that was supposedly coming to visit you?

My g/f i met online. Ive spoken with a doctor , immigration officer her mum and Brother the story does indeed check out but I need proof.I guess the only way i will find out is when she is jailed.

Have you spoken with the Ghana embassy?"doctor, immigration officer her mum and Brother" sounds like all people she has put you in touch with not people indepedent.

I havent been in touch with the embassy one of my problems is my phone connection is poor ive bad hearing and find it hard to understand fully whats being said. Thats why the internet is so helpful.Shame so many official Ghanaian sites wrent working properly. Lucy says she doesnt want any money and will face the concequences.

Ive now had a call from her lawyer Ill let you know what happens

Again, how do you know any of these people are legit and not all part of a scam?ie: is the dr a dr or someone claiming to be a dr? is her "lawyer" a lawyer or a co-conspiritor? Can you verify who anyone is or what the deal is from anyone INDEPENDENT of her and legitimate, ie: an embassy? Have you searched for the phone number of your girlfriend, her lawyers and others with google to see if they have been used in a scam with others?

Ive sent an email to the lawyers claimed address.Ive been told by the Arnold Okudzeto that he will send me all the relavent papers pertaining to the case. Ive done an enormouse amount of searching and come up with no leads. It has my attention anyway :) Ill keep you up to date

And again... any of this independent from your girl friend? How did you contact this lawyer? Or did he contact you? Anyone could email a copy of "certificates".

FAILURE TO PAY THE 5% CHARGED BY LAW , HE / SHE IS TO BE SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IMPRISONMENT WITH HARD LABOUR I need this confirmed

You contacted a lawyer in Ghana or HER laywer?Did you use the US Embassy's list of local lawyers?

I did google search on: Ghana Gold Scam GirlfriendThe first listing was a U.S. Government website, frmo the Overseas Security Advisory Council. It sounds like your being setup to lose US$1, 000 to US$20, 000. To quote from them... "The next and most lucrative step in the scam comes when the Ghanaian correspondent ostensibly leaves Ghana but is picked up by Ghanaian, British or Dutch immigration authorities." And, Those who do their homework check the Embassy webpage early in their relationship and lose only $100 - $3, 000. Those who do not do their homework generally end up losing large amounts of money. Often, they contact the embassy only when their "friend" has been "arrested" at customs and they need embassy assistance. Why haven't you contacted the U.S. Embassy? Well, I guess because you are from the UK... but you might call them anyway and see if they are worth their salt (my taxes).

Thanks for that info I have contacted the british embassy but had no reply. The Lawyer is Peter Arnold Okudzeto he checks out the address ive been given is that of the head office of Sam Okudzeto and associates. in Accra I have a copy of his BAR certificate also. I have also shown her a picture of the man from the company website and confirms that it is of Peter Okudzeto.

In my opinion, it's all part of an elaborate scam. For me, what did it was when you mentioned you met her online. Ghanaians, especially those traveling abroad for the first time will have an army of family/friends advisors to guide them in leaving the country.. and no one would be stupid to get caught at the airport with a bar of gold. they'd know better. drop your interest in it and move on.
