Hello everyone, I am currently living on the Gold Coast in Australia and am considering moving to Greece. I have relatives there (Peleponissos) and have visited them 4 times, but the last time was in 1990. I was wondering what the cost of living was like at the moment. Any help or other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dimitri.

milk = 2,20 euro.coffee = 3,50 euro. heikinen/stella 500mL = 1 euro (supermarket). fuel /L = 90euro cents. large pizza = around 13 euro. (although if you're quick its 2 for the price of one at pizza hut) incomes are much lower than in melbourne (and im guessing oz in general). any more info needed, let me know (i.e. something more specific). bottom line: greece of 2006 is much much more expensive than greece of 1990. panos.

Life in Greece has become quite expensive but still beautiful. To live comfortably you'll need to have a monthly income of at least 1000 Euros. The avarage monthly salary is about 800 Euros. A lot depends on your field of proffession and what type of work you intend to do when you move to Greece, your age and where in Greece you would like to live. I grew up in Chicago, moved to Greece in 1985 and have been living in Athens until now. I am 48 years old married with 3 daughters and I have not regret moving here despite all the difficulties. If you need any more info please feel free to contact me. Irene • Page 1 (Original Post) •
