I live in Antigua, Guatemala. You most likely could find something in your price range in the villages around Lake Atitlan near Panajachel. There would not be anything here in that price range (Antigua).

would you, by chance, know approximately how much it cost, per square foot (or meter) to build new.

i realize the costs could vary, but possibly there is a general range.

Do they have a property (real estate) tax in Guatemala/Antigua? If not, how do they fund local government and schools?

And if someone built a house for <$100K what would be standard in terms of rooms and amenities? Is there public treated water? Sewer or septic system? What's the power supply, the electrical situation there? I know Tikal only has power until about 10 p.m. But that may be a unique situation.
