Indian model Tariq from Dhaka into Delhi custody

Tariq Ahmad Dar, 29, an Indian national, has been working for the last couple of years as a fashion and ramp model in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

15 september Tariq has been arrested by a special branch of the police, the RAB.

Tariq has been held incommunicado up till 25 october. Also his lawyer nor the Indian High Commission has had access to him.

Tariq has been produced in front of a Dhaka court on Sunday 22 october, where the judge released him from all allegations against him.

Tariq has signed blank papers while in police custody and he has been deported to Delhi.

Tariq arrived in Delhi and was arrested by the Delhi police, based on the information from Dhaka that he was involved in “international militancy”.

Bangladesh states that they have evidence against Tariq, but they do not want to hand this over to the Indian government. They only state allegations, on which the Delhi police kept him in custody and under interrogation.

We request your urgent attention for this case, since Tariq is innocent. Tariq is a very famous model in Bangladesh, and no-one involved in any illegal activities would have his face huge over all the Dhaka billboards. Furthermore he has been released from all cases against him by the Dhaka court just before his deportation. Amnesty International issued an “Urgent Appeal” for Tariq, since they were afraid for torture and/or mistreatment. Tariq has a legal visa for bangladesh and is carrying a valid passport.

Tariq's father, Gulam Dar, stated that he hopes that the Delhi police will finish soon their investigation, and that they will also conclude that he is innocent. "This game must end, an innocent person is in custody and we fear for his safety and well being", concluded his father.

i knew tariq was innocent... but i didnt have a voice loud enough for people to hear me.. there was nothing i could do... n im sorry for all dat.. but i cant tell u how much, how badly i still miss u! whether itz Movenpick or Ecstasy... all of it still reminds me of u... i miss my 'tom cruise smile', i miss those poems, i miss those days at movenpick when i had the chance to stare at you! I MISS YOU!!! and im still hoping you'd contact me sometime.. sometime sooon.. im still waiting..
