where are all the artists???

It has recently been brought to my attention just how wealthy a country Kuwait is. Further, that Kuwaiti citizens never really have to worry about money.

I am a female in my 30's living with my artist boyfriend in New York City. More often than not we find ourselves too tired to create after working so many hours per day/week (necessary for money to pay rent, bills and beer -to unwind of course).

We often find ourselves saying "if we didn't have to worry about money we'd do so much, make so much more."

My question is then, in a country where citizen's do not have to worry about money is there more time for individual thoughts? Further, where is the art expressing these thoughts.

that's a question I've been asking myself ever since I was 9. I was born in Kuwait and lived here all my life (I'm 16 now). I am an artist myself and I found out that Kuwaitis might have money but they don't have ambition or drive. Kuwait is a country where the soul purpose is to collect your paycheck at the end of the month and nothing else.

hi, this page is not reflecting the true side of the subject, kuwait art and artist, I have not see any thing, believeme any relation to kuwait art. where are the names of the kuwaiti artist. the publisher need at least to visit the kuwait modern art musium to get some information which I belive would support their web objective.

I wonder for 2Moh, whose saying he is an artist, and he is living in kuwait, I wonder he did not understand kuwaiti untill now, and giving false description, He knew that not all the kuwaities are rich, and have money as be descripes.In fact most , even all Kuwaiti is a working force, and live from their monthly payement. the situation for artist is not as been expected by the followers.

I , as akuwaiti, my self has to support my art project, from my monthly payement. the artist her has to support him, or her self in every things. the GOV just provide the display room and whit wall. the art purchasing power is minimum compares to the 60th and the 70th.

the expenses on the artist is very high, and becommimg hevy load.

we are aregular nation, who could be rich or poor.

excuse me? I am a Kuwaiti and I am an abstract artist! How in the world did you get such an idea that we Kuwaities have no drive or ambition? I work as freelance artist on my own and hold galleries every few months and display my hard work to the people but not sell ... I dont need the money thats true but I do love art in all its forms and love expressing my feelings to the people through my paintings. We Kuwaities have feelings and ambition and dont forget what we went through in the gulf war and many artists emerged after the war in 1991 to express to the world what they feel.

I understand you foreigners think because we have enough money to live that we dont break a sweat but we dont need to show you that! Thank you very much ... its just that theres not much we can do here for fun with our money so we dont really go out much or socialize or interact with people that much.

Next time you want to know what goes on in our lives ask a Kuwaiti person and you might know a lot more than you do and maybe learn something from other peoples diversity.
