I have an interest in living in Veintiane,Laos, but don't really know where to begin. I have a substantial amount of money to hold me financially till I learn my way around. I know someone there and I'm sure that will be a plus in learning. So the question is do I begin at the U.S.Consolate?

Hi Robbie,

You're right about getting start from the Us consolate office there.

Matter of fact, I have three friend now living and doing business there for serveral years now. They are doing fine.

By the way, if you every consider buying land, I do have a piece about 6, 150 square meter want to sell. It is in the city. The cost is about 900 baht (Thai) per one square meter.

Robbie it is not that hard, but you really need a work permit. These are not that difficult to get - depends on whom you know. The US embassy will not really be helpful. Best is to come here and talk to someone and sound out the job situation.
