Well I think it would be good to have a thread where you can search recipes you heard of.Here's the first one:
It's a soup called (spoken) kao pio I think.
It's laotian and contains duck, beef, pork and maybe chicken, also noodles. Anyone knows it? Really random description, i know.
You mean khao biak. Literally "wet rice". The noodle is made out of flour and not rice like it is with Pho. The noodle is thicker and the soup is a little thick. Every once in a while, my mom will make it. This dish can also be made with rice instead of noodles. The noodle can also be bought pre-made in the Asian store. We usually make it with pork.- Boil water and add pork (ribs chopped about 2 in" long)
Let boil until meat is soft (30 mins)
- Add teaspoon of salt
- Add noodle
- 1 Tb Sugar
- 1 1/2 Soy sauce (Maggi brand - nom sa eew) or the green cap bottle
- 2 Tb Fish sauce
- 1 Tb Fried garlic (freshly crushed and fried is best for flavor)
- Black pepper (a couple shakes)
Note: In Laos, we don't use measuring cups to spoons. How much of what will depend on taste. So that's to just give you a reference
Let boil for another 20 mins
Chopped cilantro
Chopped green onions
Crushed dried red peppers (since it's a Lao dish)
