I was hoping someone would talk about living expenses. I would like a fairly high standard of living but not extravagant.

What do you mean by a high standard of living?

I'm looking for a place where I can live comfortably on less than $1200 a month. That's for everything: rent, doctor, friend, travel, clothes, entertainment, etc, etc. I believe that I can live in, say, Chaing Mai, Thailand in fair comfort for less than $1000 a month, but could not do so in Mexico, or Costa Rica.

We might try to define our terms a bit better,
