Retired in Lao (202.136.244.70) -
The Lao PDR may not be ideal for foreign retirement, but it can provide a pleasant and relaxed lifestyle for those who prefer things 'slow'. The Lao people are unique - among the most sociable and friendly in the world. Broadband internet and cable TV are available. Medical and shopping facilities are lacking, but the cost of living is low and there are good European restaurants and cheap liquor. Anything else you need is available in Thailand - just across the Mekong River from Vientiane. Learn more about life in Vientiane and the Lao people at www.Retire-Asia.com.

How does one get permission to stay in Lao for along time? What type of visa?

The Business Visa is the only practical option, not difficult to obtain and renewable annually. Multi-entry so you can go shopping in Nongkhai. Learn more at Retire-Asia by clicking the link.

Hello, All you have to do is renew your visa you can pay them according to day or yearly. Depending your status or situation that can determine the Visa type you will be issued. Last year the fee was around 300 US Dollars a year. Make sure your passport is current and not expired. If you have any questions please contact me.

I would like to spend about six months in Vientiane and Savannakhet. Are there any fully furnished apartment rentals available?

Dear sir/madam, I was born in Laos and came to USA as refugee. Now I am a Citizen of USA and have Passport. This year, I will retire from my work and I want to live in Laos for my retirement, because I have relatives live there. What type of visa do I need? What are documents do I need to submit with visa? What is the fee do I have to pay to get my retirement visa granted. Please give me all advise, and thank you. Sincerely, Leune
