Im Indian and got a civil engineer job in libya and offering me around 4000 Lyd+food+accommadation.

Hi D Agarwal myself kumar from Delhi but already NRI . Thinking to change job to Tripli with a long term contract with EPSA ( NOC, Total ...)

Before making my final yes i want some information on the social environment. I will get company accomodation car and driver ofcourse . What about indian food ?? like Dal, Haldi, Dhaniya etc indian spice !! and what about International banks. Is there HSBC or do the market accepts international cards !!

Hi! I am Salman from india. I have been offered a job with Zueitina Oil company. The job offer is rotational in nature with 42 days work and 38 days off. The company will be providing me 5 air tickets to my place of origin, which is Toronto, Canada. The company is offering me US $ 100, 000.00 per year after net Libyan taxes to be paid in Canada. I am offered free food and housing in Libya. My family shall be staying in Libya.

Kindly advise me if this salary is good and also if this company is reliable. Kindly advise me.

In reply to some of your questions, one LYD = 38.2 INR as of October 14, 2009.

The average salary for an engineer or IT professional is roughly LYD 4, 000 per month in Libya, and must include expatriate benefits such as annual airfare travel and healthcare and insurance benefits. Some employers such as the Libyan Health Ministry also offer gratuity so check with your prospective employer before signing any contracts.Make sure you insist on healthcare and insurance cover as there have been several cases of people having had to pay hefty bills in foreign hospitals such as St James Hospital (Maltese Hospital, very expensive).

Average monthly rent for a decent flat in downtown Tripoli is LYD 500/- average monthly expenditures are roughly LYD 500, including dining out (but no Alchohol, or pork as these are considered unholy here).

There is an Indian restaurant in Tripoli called Sultan Restaurant and reachable on +218 21 721 4392. Please check yourself to gauge quality.Rest there is the usual Cous-Cous, Italia pizza, sandwiches serving fare available from many Libyan eateries which is moderately priced. Please note that there is no McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Kentucky fried Chicken or Domninoe's in Tripoli, Libya as of October 2009.

Hi,

I received the offer from Libyan architectural design firm.

They offered me 1600 Euros per month with food and accommodation.

Firm profile is good with large scale projects.

But am not sure about it. They didnt take any formal telephonic interview.

I hope its not some kind fraud as I will be investing more than 600£ in visa process and ticket bookings.

Please reply shall I reply them or reject the offer.

No telephone interview? Did you apply for the job?

Sounds like your ready to lose 600£ forever. If they are doing to pay you 1600 plus food and lodging, certainly they can afford 600 for the visa processing... and they certainly wouldn't risk hiring you without an interview.
