I'm looking for available Maine or New Hampshire musicians to start a rock band with. Anyone interested should be well versed in psychedelic rock, blues and all forms of sixties and seventies pop music culture. I'm seeking two guitarists (lead and rhythm), a bassist, a drummer, vocalists and a keyboardist for full positions. Any other musician is welcome to inquire about a part time/one song basis. Sax or Trumpet Player Wanted:

Guitarist, keyboardist, drummer and bassist seek sax or trumpet player. We're currently playing mix of jazz/blues standards as well as some funk. Current original material varies in style but is mostly rock with jazz/blues influences and sometimes a twangy feel. We're interested in exploring and combining different styles of music into original material with a focus on instrumental/improvised music. We're practice once a week in Scarborough and are looking to have fun playing, grow as musicians, learn tunes, improvise, create, possibly home record and play out when/if we feel ready. We're between the ages of 31-44 and have day jobs. The right mix of personality and a productive approach to music is more important to us than loads of experience or talent, but we do expect a decent level of skill and creativity. Musicians and Developing Musicians Wanted (Lewiston)

Ever wish you had a quality and convenient venue in which to play, where you can comfortably invite any member of the family, friends, colleagues etc.? Well, we may be the place. I have a desire that our new Bistro located in the Mr. Paperback bookstore on Lisbon street offer live music nightly. I wish to bring back the days when live music was plentiful and available.I would love to see our place pumping out songs most every night. I would love to see talented musicians showcasing their stuff and getting paid for it too. Additionally, I would love the opportunity to offer budding musicians a venue in which to play and hone their skills. I am aware that aspiring musicians need opportunities also. Hi everyone, my name is Andrew and I started a Rocksteady band in Taiwan acouple of years ago called The Sound Clashes. The band did very well but like all things the TSC came to an end and I moved back to maine. I miss playing alot and want to start up again. I wrote a bunch of songs for the old band and would like to pick up where I left off, but i am also totally open to anything as long as its in the same genre of music. if you like traditional SKA rocksteady and reggae and want to get playing drop me a line.

my influences are: bob andy, bruce ruffin, chosen few, cornell campbell, delroy wilson, derrick morgan, desmond dekker, the ethiopians, the gaylettes, heptones, john holt, MATUMBI!!!, the maytals, the melodians, norma fraser, sound dimension, stanger, susan cadogan, tommy maccook, laurel aitken, the paragons, clancy eccles, the soul rhythms.

just me so far, but i would like a full group, trombone, trumpet, two saxes, lead guitar (on who can bubble and skank but can also wail when the time comes) a keyboard player who likes to call themselves an organist. a bass player who knows how to walk. solid drummer and a percussionist who likes west indies drums, not south african. also, i always had an idea to have a string section instead of a horn....

Does anyone have any pictures or information on the late 60's early 70's local maine rock band The Varg? they played the battle of the bands at the portland expo in 69 or 70 with Bob Sieger and the silver bulet band.

the members were Jeff Smith, charlie Brown, keith stiles, and pat reardon, and one or two others . Looking for photos, news articles, ECT.
