Is it reasonable to assume that a place can be found? I work on drilling rigs 5 weeks, and then I am off for 5 weeks. Would living in Maldives during these five weeks be an option? Any help would be appreciated.

Its easy and possible to arrange in Maldives. but the question how long is it for only 5 weeks then also its possible.

But if you want to spend years and years like that i prefer to take a land for long term lease for 15 years from Hulhumale, beach area plot and build according to your need.

If you done that your investment will be cover with in 7-10 years. which means after building cost you will get that money back with in that period you can stay in Maldives free of charge for that 15 years if you invest.
