Iam considering moving (retiring) in or around Veracruz, but am having a real hard time on the websites to get a clear understanding of the cost of living there. I have a pension of $1200 a month. I am single and don't need much. Is this enouth money to not just get buy but live fairly well? I am moving this coming January and am thinking about a few other Central American countries, but Veracruz or other nearby towns sounds interesting. All I am looking for is a simple one bedroom apartment in a safe neigborhood around Veracruz. Veracruz websites don't provide much. Please help me as I am running out of time. I plan on driving from Texas to Veracruz in the beginning of January. If that doesn't work out, I will keep driving sourh,

Have you considered Catemaco, just a couple hours south of Veracruz city on Highway 180? I have a small one bedroom, furnished...a bit smaller than my web page pictues...but perfect for one person. Itīs fully furnished and ready ( barring some else taking it) within a days notice.

I have been considering moving to Veracruz/Mexico, but it appears that Belize might be affordable, despited what I have read on several blogs.

Has anyone been to one or both places that can give me some information?

I will be traveling to Veracruz in a few months.

Any information would be helpful.
