Hi

Looking to develop a social network in Muscat (native English speakers ideally). I work in education/training, like physical activity, the outdoors, restaurants, and social gatherings. Muscat doesn't seem to have a network/group for women like me who have come to Oman on their own. Anyone got any ideas?

well.. actually Oman is not that boring.. and its really fun.. Yeah its definitely not too much of an unrban life style like Dubai for instance but theres lots you can doo..

I play beach soccer, basketball and visit the tourist spots (jabal shams.etc) and i really enjoy it...

Hi All and Ms Lost,

I stumbled on to this site by accident and while I can concur with some of you regarding Networking etc in Muscat, I also feel that some of the message participants have alternative motives for wanting to meet female member's....be careful !!

Anyway, I am a very young (in my head anyway) 54 year old Brit who has been in the Gulf for some 27 years now and have recently relocated to Muscat while I search for a suitable position in HR (Oil / Gas / Construction / EPC).

Muscat and Oman are probably the nicest of the Guld States in which to live and generally speaking the Omani people are again probably the nicest in the Gulf. Sadly though there is a distinct lack of 'things to do' socially and that can take it's toll on 'New' Expats who dream of having a 'Normal' Western lifestyle. Allowances must be mad and you also need to choose your Friends carefully (for obvious reasons)....but ther ARE great things to do here particularly outdoors. Have you been Wadi Bashing, there are some of the best wadi's in the Gulf here and 4x4ing through the Mountains is fantstic. If your in to the Ocean, you can have great fun over at BK (Bander Khairan) where it's like mini Fjords.

Night life is however a bit 'Trying' as most places are not Smoke-Free and for someone like me (Non-Smoker) well, lets just say, it's very uncomfortable going in these places.

BBq's, Beach parties etc are good fun and there are lot's of locations where these can take place and providing someone takes the time to 'Organise' all of us, fun can happen.

There are a few people on here that I would like to also meet and so to meet at a House Warming or at a BBQ sounds like a great idea.
