My husband is moving to Oman to work, and I would like to move there with my young son. I'm wondering what the lifestyle is like and housing costs. Also, would I be able to bring our family dog and cat? Is there a good site to check out rentals/real estate?

I get close to 20 Lakhs per annum in India and heading software sales for an Indian company. Now, my employer wants me to relocate to Oman to head a project with Oman tender Board for a minimum of 2 years.Can you please tell me the normal salary packages for senior management positions there and the benefits they are normally entiltled to.

Every body is asking questions only. Now these days Oman is very expensive, just like Dubai. You can't find a flat less than 200 Omani Riyal. First thing is now it is very difficult to get a flat. perticularly in the budget of a service class. So many times you have to pay more than 300RO/ month with one year or 6 months house rent advance. Living cost for a small family ( 3 - 4) is also same. kitchen grossary about 150 RO/month. Water & Electricity another 50RO. Indians usually bring tata sky or Dish TV from india although it is illigal.

But here You will fel like India only. In all companies you will found mostly Indians. And you have direct approach to so many Indian cities.

dear all,

who so ever is coming to oman must make sure that his/ her company is providing furnished accomodation befor you land in oman as per my experience it takes more than 2 months to get a house even if your comany pays your rent.

When you negotaiate for your job always keep in mind that the propoerty rates keep on changing in a weeks time so don't fix some amount for House rent.

Regarding expenses the life is quite easy expenses per month for a family of 2 will be RO 200.

For Indians,

I feel the salary which is offered in India is almost equat to whcih you r offered in Oman but the only benift is tax saving.You will be deprived of social life as you as most of the time people are busy with the office work.You can't move out for walk as it is horrible hot outside.

for a engineer of 4+ exp ask for a salary of RO 1000.00 + HOUSE +CAR +MEDICAL AS MEDICAL IS VERY EXPENSIVE HERE

Me and my husband want to do work in oman. I am computer sytem engineer and my husband is masters in history.we are applying for job in oman that's job will give us 1000 to me and 700 to my husband omani currency. in this amount house rent is included .we have two kids so please guide us that in this amount we can servive or not.means please give me detail of rent , grosrey etcper month expenditure.
