Hi there all you guys and gals.

Just wanted your help. I'm a 30 year old banker and looking for prospects of shifting out to Muscat. I'm just trying to get a head start, in terms of getting to know more abt the place.

Would like assistance in finding out the cost of living, for a family of 4 (wife and 2 kids) what is a reasonable, comfortable and good salary to work at in Oman. Would love to have some sort of assistance from you guys out there.

Salam, I just want to help you people in this matter... The most basic cost of living I found out in my research in Oman is as follows:

Simple Accommodation: $400/week

Transportation: $100/week

Basic Food: $70/week

2.Can one,as a specialist earning OR 700/-p.m take one's parents with him as dependents?

3.Can one shift from private job to ministry job during contract period,with employer's consent?Does the law permit it?

4.What is the cost of a medium size car,new or second hand?

I have got a job offer at Muscat with one of the Largest Business Group at Muscat, Oman. Can anyone please tell me the following:

1) What is the decent living expenses for a) Bachelor life (if family is left back at India) b) Married with Wife and one daughter (6yrs, school going) per month in OR and US$?

2) How is the living condition at Muscat (Temperature, Pollution, Climatic conditions, Ethnic problems, Other political and social disturbances for Foregners (Indians)

3) I have been offered Free furnished accomodation, Company provided (self driven) and maintained Car. How much should be a decent salary for a B.E. Engineer (ECE) + MBA with 17 years experience?
